THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON- Ahmed ElKerim, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on June 17th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of three probation orders and an undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on June 17th, 2015 the man attended a Second Street East store and selected a quantity of chocolate bars making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. The Loss Prevention Officer contacted police and the man was located a short distance away. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, On – A 22-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on June 17th, 2015 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on June 17th, 2015 the woman spat in the face of her 23-year-old boyfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 21st, 2015. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

CARE AND CONTROL

 

Cornwall, ON – Nicholas Lamesse, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on June 16th, 2015 and charged with care and control of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on June 16th, 2015 the man had care and control of a motor vehicle in the area of Montreal Road and Belmont Street while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

 

THREATS, RESIST ARREST

 

Cornwall, ON – Tibor Csontos, 60 of Cornwall was arrested on June 16th, 2015 and charged with threats and resist arrest. It is alleged on June 16th, 2015 the man threatened to harm a 54-year-old man known to him and police were contacted to investigate. During their investigation the man was located at his residence, taken into custody after a brief struggle and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

DRUG ARREST
(Mississippi Mills, Ontario) – On Friday June 12, 2015, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by Carleton Place OPP Detachment Officers conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation which led to the arrest of Laura THOMPSON (46 years) of Mississippi Mills Township.

During the investigation the following items were seized:
100 – 24 mg Hydromorphone capsules
152 – 40 mg Oxycontin tablets
$800 in Canadian Currency
$120 in American Currency
Smart Phone

Sje is charged with;

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance of Bail x 3

And;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

She was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing on June 15, 2015 in the Ontario Court of Justice, Perth, Ontario.

In the week of June 8th to June 15th 2015, Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to 246 occurrences. Three break and enter incident were reported. Four incidents of assault and seven incidents of theft were reported.  In the last week, officers investigated one impaired driving related incident.  Out of the 246 occurrences, 21 concluded with accusations.

 

PERSON TO BE IDENTIFIED

(Hawkesbury, ON)  In the afternoon of June 8th, a fraud was reported to the Hawkesbury OPP.  Someone used the debit card of a Hawkesbury woman to unlawfully withdraw money from her bank account.

The matter is being investigated by Constable Yan Faille of the Hawkesbury OPP.

During the investigation, the image of a man, that police believe has information in the matter, was captured by the automatic teller machine (ATM).

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(La Nation, ON)  In the afternoon of Friday June 12th, shortly before 4 pm, Constable Dominique Sauvé responded to a collision that occurred on County Road 8 near County Road 16 in La Nation.

A female driver lost control of her red Ford Edge, rolling over the ditch and ending up in the field alongside the road. The driver suffered minimal injuries.

Interaction with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had operated her motor vehicle with her abilities being impaired by alcohol.

Consequently, the driver, Brigitte FRANCHE (50 yrs) of St-Isidore, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

 

-253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)

– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood.

 

-249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

She was later released and scheduled to appear at court on July 15th, 2015 in L’Orignal.

ARREST DURING EXECUTION OF WARRANT

(Hawkesbury, ON) On June 9th, 2015, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) –Emergency Response Team (ERT), Hawkesbury Crime Unit and the Hawkesbury Community Drug Action Team, executed a Search Warrant in the town of Hawkesbury , resulting in the seizure of cannabis marihuana.

 

Richard QUANN (42 yrs) and Nancy ROBERT(43 yrs) both of Hawkesbury were arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section 5(2) Possession of a substance in Schedule II (Cannabis Marihuana) for the purpose of trafficking.

 

Sébastien QUANN (19 yrs)  of Hawkesbury was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following sections:

–       Section 4(1) Possession of a substance in Schedule II (Cannabis Marihuana resin).

–       section 5(2) Possession of a substance in Schedule II (Cannabis Marihuana) for the purpose of trafficking.

 

All 3 accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal, on August 5th 2015.

 

 

THEFT OF ELECTRIC WELDER

(Hawkesbury, ON) Constable Patrick Spooner of the Hawkesbury OPP detachment is investigating a theft of a Lincoln Mig Welder  that occurred sometime during the last month in a Albert Street residence.

The investigation revealed that the welding machine was stored in the residential garage and that someone was able to leave with the machine without being noticed.

There were no suspects at the moment of the news release.

The matter is under investigation.

Break and Enter

June 14, 2015

Time – approximately 7:15 pm.

Location – Henry St. Prescott

On June 14, 2015 just before 7:15 pm police received information people were trying to break in to a building on Henry St. in the Town of Prescott. It appeared they were in the process of prying open a side door. A description of the persons involved and a vehicle seen leaving were provided. Police located and stopped the vehicle matching the description at Park and East St. in Town of Prescott. Following a short investigation police arrested 4 males. Charged with attempt break and enter to an abandoned business situated on Henry Street W with intent to commit an indictable offence were an 18 year old and two 20 year old males from Prescott along with a 19 year old male from Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township. All are to appear in court at a later date.

Break and Enter

June 12, 2015

Time – approximately 3:45 pm.

Location – County Rd. 2 Augusta Township

On June 12, 2015 just before 4:00 pm it was reported to police a brown Chevy half ton truck that should not be on the property of a business on County Rd. 2 was there loading it with metal and was about to leave. A description of the vehicle and direction of travel was provided and police were able to stop the vehicle on Stewart St. in Augusta Township. The rear of the truck was full of stolen metal. Two people in the vehicle were arrested for being in possession of stolen property while a third person took off on foot. (Turned himself into police later that evening) Charged with Break and Enter and possession of stolen property were a 32 year old male from Prescott, a 32 year old male from Augusta Township and a 36 year old male from Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township. All are to appear in court at a later date.
