Cornwall River Kings Sign Two More Forwards In Time For Season Opener – OCT 1, 2015

CORNWALL Ontario – The River Kings open their fourth LNAH season tomorrow night on the road vs. the Thetford Assurancia.

The puck drops at 8:30 p.m. and the game can be heard live on River Kings Radio. Visit the team’s Official Facebook Page for the link on game day.

Meanwhile, the River Kings have come to terms with a pair of forwards, Jonathan Joanette and Sy Nutkevitch.

Joanette impressed fans and management with an impressive camp and pre-season.

He made it difficult for us not to keep him,” said head coach and general manager Rick Lalonde. “He’s not a big guy but he always seems to be involved in the play.”

The 21-year-old had 25 goals and 33 assists for 58 points in 38 games last season with the Valleyfield Braves Jr. AAA team. He also compiled 135 penalty minutes.

Nutkevitch returns to Cornwall, where he will make his LNAH debut. The 27-year-old suited up for the Jr. A Colts in 2007-08.

After a four-year career at SUNY-Potsdam, Nutkevitch had pro stops in the CHL, SPHL and ECHL.

Next weekend, Cornwall travels to St-Georges on Friday, Oct. 9 (8 p.m.) before hosting Riviere-du-Loup on Saturday, Oct. 10 in their home opener.

Season tickets are currently on sale: Adults $250; Students/Seniors $200; Children under 12 $140. Contact the River Kings office at 613-933-9797 or email info@cornwallriverkings.ca for more information.

  1. It seems players now want to play for the River Kings, as compared to before where some didn’t. It’s nice to have a stable ownership for the River Kings. With that the players have one less thing to worry about. The River Kings ownership before Steve Moreau seemed to be haphazard and at times a joke.

Hugger hockey players want to play hockey. They want to get paid regularly too 🙂 Mr. Moreau has done his end of the job. Now the question is whether Cornwall will do its part and support the team?

  3. I think it will. Time will tell.
