Hammer Attack in Cornwall BUSY OPP Round Up – OCT 15, 2015 CCPS

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, ASSAULT, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Jesse Landriault, 23 and Taylor Bergeron, 25 both of Cornwall were arrested on October 14th, 2015 and charged. It is alleged on October 11th, 2015 while in the area of Second Street and Amelia Street, Landriault assaulted a 23-year-old man known to him several times with a hammer while Bergeron kicked the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 14th, 2015 Landriault attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and held for a bail hearing. Police later located Bergeron at his residence and took him into custody. He was charged him with assault and breach of two probation orders for failing to keep the peace and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(North Glengarry) – On October 14, 2015 at approximately 11:00 am, Stormont Dundas & Glengarry   Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Kenyon Concession 5 in North Glengarry Township.  Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his ex-common law spouse had occurred. Information was received that the male had assaulted the female victim multiple times during several previous incidents.  The male also threatened the female during the altercations.

An adult male (46) from North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

–              Assault ( 2 counts)

–              Sexual Assault

–            Assault with a Weapon ( 2 counts)

–              Uttering Threats

–            Overcome Resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on November 11, 2015. The names of the accused persons are being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(South Glengarry) – On October 14, 2015, SD&G OPP officer conducted speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401, South Glengarry Townships and intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– October 14, 2015 – 3:33pm (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 163km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (20) from Scarborough, Ontario was charged accordingly.

 

MISCHIEF

(North Glengarry) – On October 14, 2015 at approximately 8:57pm Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a family dispute on Dominion Street South, North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that a male youth had caused damage to the family home.

The 17-year-old male of North Glengarry was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief  (2 counts)

The male was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court on October 15, 2015.The name of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

BODY FOUND NEAR BISHOPS MILLS

(KEMPTVILLE, ON) – Shortly after 6:30 pm on October 14, 2015 members of the Grenville County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a found body in the area of County Road 18 and County Road 20 – east of Bishop Mills in North Grenville.

The Grenville County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Peter Donnelly of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identifications Services Unit (FISU) are investigating the suspicious death.

Local traffic is being rerouted at Jigg Street until further notice.

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(South Stormont) – On October 14, 2015 at approximately 9:43am, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Raphael CAREY (50) of Montreal, Quebec was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

The female passenger, Afi Belinda AGBEKO (36) of Lasalle, Quebec was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on November 19, 2015.

STOLEN VEHICLE

(South Glengarry) – On October 9, 2015 at approximately 10:56am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a Truck from a Residence on Rae Road, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that sometime between (September  4, 2015 – October 8, 2015) a 2006 Black F350 DRW Pick- up Truck with Licence Plate (3651WE) was removed from the property.

An investigation continues.

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(South Stormont) – On October 9, 2015 at approximately 12:29pm, a Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana, from the five occupants of the vehicle.  A male passenger became confrontational and resisted arrest.

The male passenger, Giancarlo BASILONE (25) of Burlington, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Resist Peace Officer

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

The female driver, Kiersten VIZZACCHERO (25) of Aurora, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Another male passenger, Jonathan STANSFIELD (25) of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Another male passenger, Daniel STANSFIELD (28) of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

Another male passenger, Arnell MURRAIN (25) of Markham, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

All parties were released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall December 22, 2015.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(North Dundas) – On October 9, 2015 at approximately 7:31pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 13, North Dundas Township while conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Russell GAULEY (65) of Russel, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on November 17, 2015.

– October 9, 2015 – 10:10pm (South Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 164km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (21) from Oshawa, Ontario was charged accordingly.

– October 9, 2015 – 8:13pm (South Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 151km/h (100km/h zone). Female driver (35) from East York, Ontario was charged accordingly.

– October 10, 2015 – 12:02pm (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 188km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (22) from Toronto, Ontario was charged accordingly.

– October 10, 2015 – 7:28pm (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 155km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (19) from East York, Ontario was charged accordingly.

– October 11, 2015 – 1:15pm (South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 161km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (25) from Kirkland,Quebec was charged accordingly.

IMPAIRED DRIVER AND BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(South Dundas) – On October 11, 2015 at approximately 6:38am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on Fifth Street, South Dundas Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol. Further Information revealed that the male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.

Mackinzie HORRICKS (26) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Recognizance (4 counts)

– Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (Liquor Licence Act)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

ASSAULT

(South Stormont) – On October 12, 2015 at approximately 8:06pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a business on Beagle Club Road, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation occurred resulting in an adult male striking another adult male.

Jason BAILEY (37) from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on November 24, 2015.

CHARGES LAID RELATING TO BREAK IN

(South Stormont) – On October 13, 2015 at approximately 1:31am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at a Business on County Road 18, South Stormont Township.

Investigation indicated that culprit(s) forcibly attempted to enter the business (Krazy Dan’s Convenience Store).

SD&G OPP Officers arrested two males in connection with the attempted break-in a short distance away from the business.

Denis BEDARD (29) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Attempt to Commit Indictable Offence

– Break and Enter

– Possession of Break in Instruments

Shawn HESSE (37) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Attempt to Commit Indictable Offence

– Possession of Break in Instruments

– Trespass at Night

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Recognizance (2 counts)

– Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking (2 counts)

Both males were held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

BREAK IN

(North Dundas) – On October 10, 2015 at approximately 1:11pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded a report break-in at a residence on Kerrs Ridge Road, North Dundas Township.

Investigation indicated that sometime between October 9, 2015 – 9:00pm– 12;00pm on October 10, 2015 culprit(s) forcibly entered the residence and removed a quantity electronics.

An investigation continues.
