TRAFFIC DELAYS – MOCK EXERCISE

 

On January 5th, 2016 the Cornwall Community Police Service will be conducting a mock scenario exercise at the former St. Gabriel’s school on Reneal Street. Local traffic will be permitted, however delays may occur between 8:00am to 1:00PM.

 

Members of the Cornwall Emergency Response Team as well as other uniformed and plain clothes officers will be attending.

ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 55-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 31st, 2015 and charged with assault and sexual assault. It is alleged on December 9th, 2015 the man assaulted and sexually assaulted his 53-year-old ex-girlfriend while at a Marlborough Street establishment. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 31st, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Rocky Richmire, 56 of Cornwall was arrested on December 31st, 2015 and charged with breach of probation for communicating with a person he has conditions not to communicate with and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 24th, 2015 the man communicated with a person he has conditions not to communicate with and police were contacted to investigate. On December 31st, 2015 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Travis Moore, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on January 2nd, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and for being in possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged on January 2nd, 2016 the man removed merchandise from a Ninth Street store making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a knife and a quantity of marijuana. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

 

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

 

Cornwall, ON – Joseph Wallace, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on January 3rd, 2016 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle on January 3rd, 2016 while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Thirteenth Street and Brookdale Avenue. He was taken into custody by police, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 2nd, 2016.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

 

Cornwall, ON – Brian Bedard, 58 of Cornwall was arrested on December 30th, 2015 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on December 30th, 2015 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Fourth Street and Pitt Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

OPP

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 232 calls for service from Sunday, December 20th to Monday, December 28th.  Among those occurrences were the following; a collision involving an injured child, several misdialed 9-1-1 calls, domestic disputes, threats, thefts, a fraud, bail violations, drug offences and three impaired drivers charged.

As a result of those occurrences, one female and 13 males were charged with various offences.

Domestic Disputes

Russell County OPP officers investigated 11 domestic disputes during the past week. six males and one female were charged with spousal assault, assault causing bodily harm and domestic mischief. A 79 years old man was charged for assault causing bodily harm on his 74 years old wife.

Impaired Driver

Russell County OPP conducted 12 R.I.D.E programs; Bradley Kelly, age 27 of Osgoode; Enzo Franchi, age 65 of Cheney and Robert Purdy Mcleod, age 66 of Russell, were arrested on separate incidents and charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80mgs of alcohol and/or care or control. They were all released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal in January 2016.

Break and Enter

In the afternoon of December 23rd, Rockland OPP Officers were dispatched to an attempted break in enter in progress.  The male suspect was located near the scene.  Nicholas Mills, age 18 of Hammond was arrested and charged with following:

  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(a)
  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(b)
  • Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(b)
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams CDSA 4(1)

The accused was held and appeared at the L’Orignal Ontario Court of Justice on December 24th, 2015
