#OPS On the Hunt for Carlingwood & Billings Bridge Jewel Thieves in Ottawa APRIL 5, 2016

Investigation concerning two jewellery store robberies      

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating two recent jewellery store robberies and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects responsible.

On December 23, 2015, at approximately 6:20pm, three (3) masked suspects entered a jewellery store at the Carlingwood Mall. The suspects proceeded to smash a number of display cases and fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of varying jewellery. There were no injuries.

On January 4, 2016, at approximately 8:30 pm, four (4) masked suspects entered a jewellery store at Billing Bridge Plaza. One of the suspects carried a large “hammer” and began to break a number of display cases. The remaining suspects grabbed varying jewellery from the cases and the group fled into the mall. There were no injuries.

The suspects are described as black males, ages believed to be 18-22 years (no pictures available at this time).

At this time investigators are operating on the premise that the two robberies are related.

The Robbery Unit is recommending extra vigilance as the investigations progress, and is asking jewellery store employees to report any suspicious activity or persons.
