18 Year Old Killed in Collision Near Rideau Lakes #OPP May 9, 2016

OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION ON HWY 15

(LOMBARDY, ON) – On the 7th of May 2016 Ontario Provincial Police in Leeds County responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hwy 15, west of Frayn Road, in the township of Rideau Lakes.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. a Pontiac Sunfire was southbound on Hwy 15, when it crossed the center lane and entered the northbound lane of Hwy 15.  The Pontiac Sunfire at that time collided with a Volkswagon that was travelling in the northbound lanes.

Upon officers arriving at the scene the Pontiac Sunfire was fully engulfed in flames.  Rideau Lakes Fire Department attended the scene, as well as, Leeds Grenville Ambulance Service.

The driver of the Pontiac Sunfire, an 18 year old male from the Portland, ON area, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Volkswagon, a 48 year old female from the Kitchener area, was air lifted to Hospital with serious injuries.

O.P.P Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and Recon Investigators are assisting Leeds County O.P.P. with the investigation, which is continuing.
