Another Tragic Scuba Death in St. Lawrence River #OPP June 9, 2016

St. Lawrence River Fatality(Prescott, Ont.) – Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatality at the Rothesay Dive Wreck site on the St. Lawrence River.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 8th, Grenville County OPP and Leeds – Grenville Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a diver in distress on the St. Lawrence River, just east of the village of Maitland in Augusta Township.

A 59 year old male from Nepean, Ontario, was scuba diving with a group at the site. As the group was exiting the water, the victim was observed in distress. The victim was brought to shore by the other divers and was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased.

A post-mortem is scheduled.  The investigation is continuing with the assistance OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
