STACEY LEVAC of Cornwall Ontario Gets 20 Year Ban from Owning Animals JULY 14, 2016

Cornwall woman receives 20-year ban on owning animals

Cornwall, ON (July 14, 2016) – On July 12, 2016, Stacey Levac of Cornwall, ON. pled guilty to three counts of animal cruelty under the Ontario SPCA Act and received a 20-year ban on owning, caring for, or living with animals.

The Ontario SPCA executed a warrant on June 3, 2016, in a Cornwall home. Ontario SPCA officers found two dogs – a female Boxer-type dog and a Terrier-type dog – that were emaciated and flea infested. They had no food or water and were living in filthy conditions, with garbage, feces and clothing scattered throughout the house. The dogs were removed and immediately taken to a veterinary clinic. After their rehabilitation, the dogs were put up for adoption and placed into loving forever homes.

On July 12, 2016, Stacey Levac pled guilty to the charges of permitting animals to be in distress, failing to provide care necessary for the animals’ general welfare and failing to provide adequate and appropriate food and water. Levac was sentenced to a 20-year prohibition ban from owning, caring or living with animals, a two-year probation during which time she must keep the peace and pay a $300 fine and restitution to the Ontario SPCA in the amount of $1,207.37.

“There is no excuse when it comes to failing to care for your animals,” says Steve Toy, Senior Inspector, Ontario SPCA. “If you are having difficulty providing appropriate care, contact your Ontario SPCA Community Society to discuss what options are available.”

  1. I said something in this line not too long ago that not everyone should be a pet owner and many are not responsible people to own animals and to look after them. My husband and children are agreeing with me. My husband was looking at a program by the SPCA just earlier in the afternoon and he said how much animals are like people and they have feelings as well. I stick by what I said.

  2. Only a 20 year ban for owning animals? This should be a lifelong ban for owning animals and there should be jail as well. I am fuming.

  3. Anyone who has loved a dog will tell you not only do they have feelings, but they have a life as well. Happy to see something was done. Sometimes there is no accountability. Was this the house on Lefebvre?

  4. A lot of people are not fit to be pet owners and dogs, cats, etc. all have feelings and like my daughter said just a while ago that they are the most loyal of friends and we all agreed. There are people who have no brains, no heart nor feelings and they should not have pets. We have seen enough neglect while living in Cornhole. I call all the animals my friends and my family knows how I feel.
