SD&G OPP Round Up Assault on Police in South Stormont AUG 9, 2016

 

DRUGS SEIZED

(North Dundas) – On August 6, 2016 at approximately 7:48pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) and intercepted a vehicle on County Road 1, North Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The driver, Geren MORRIS (54) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Over 30 Grams

Morris was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 6, 2016.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(North Dundas) – On August 6, 2016 at approximately 10:23pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE and intercepted a vehicle on St.Lawrence and Main Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Tyler VANBEILEN (28) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol

– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 6, 2016.

(South Glengarry) – On August 7, 2016 at approximately 12:06am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on John Street, South Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Joshua JAMES (28) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol

– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 30, 2016.

(North Dundas) – On August 7, 2016 at approximately 3:16am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 31, North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Derek SHAVER (37) of Edwardsburgh, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol

– Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 6, 2016.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(North Stormont) – On August 7, 2016 at approximately 9:12am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in North Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation had taken place between a male and his common-law wife resulting in the male assaulting the female.

A 29-year-old male from Ottawa, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault (Spousal)

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 30, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

BREACH OF CONDITIONS

(South Stormont) – On August 7, 2016 at approximately 5:42pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a theft from a motor vehicle at a residence on Columbia Avenue, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that a male had removed some items from the vehicle.  Investigation also revealed that the male was in breach of previous release conditions.

Kelly TAN (45) of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Theft Under – $5000

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

IMPAIRED DRIVER AND ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

(South Stormont) – On August 7, 2016 at approximately 10:32pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 12, South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Upon arrest, the accused became resistant with police and attempted to disarm the officer.  While in custody the male made other attempts to assault the officers and also caused damage to a Police cruiser.

Noel LONGCHAMPS (28) of South Stormont Township is charged with;

– Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol

– Disarming a peace Officer ( 3 Counts)

– Assault a Peace Officer ( 2 Counts)

– Resist Peace Officer

– Mischief – Under $5000

– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
