SD&G OPP Round Up for AUG 29, 2016

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Dundas) – On August 27, 2016 at approximately 11:48pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision involving minor injuries on Highway 401, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a vehicle had collided with a pole. It was also determined that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Nicolas CHARETTE (41) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Ability Impaired
– Driving a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on September 13, 2016.
ASSAULTS

(South Glengarry) – On August 26, 2016 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 27, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that a male had repeatedly communicated with his ex-spouse. Further details revealed historical assaults.

A 26-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Criminal Harassment – Repeated Communication
– Assault – Spousal (3 counts)
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name was withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
(South Dundas) – On August 28, 2016 at approximately 12:45am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault incident at a residence on Ontario Street, South Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that an adult male had assaulted a family member.

The 35-year-old male from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on October 11, 2016.
MISCHIEF

(North Dundas) – On August 28, 2016 at approximately 2:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of mischief at a property on Mill Street in the Village of Chesterville, North Dundas Township. Investigation revealed that windows were broken on a building. Further details led officers to identify and arrest an adult male.

Adam AWADA (27) of Kanata, Ontario is charged with;

– Mischief

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on October 11, 2016.
BREAK-INS

(North Stormont) – On August 27, 2016 between 8:30am and 12:30pm, a residence was entered located on Strathmore Road, North Stormont Township. Inside a quantity of assorted jewellery, an “Insignia” tablet and cash were removed.

An investigation continues.
(South Stormont) – On August 27, 2016 between 3:00pm and 10:15pm, a residence was entered located on County Road 19, South Stormont Township. Inside a quantity of assorted jewellery was removed.

An investigation continues.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SD&G) – Over the past weekend, SD&G and Highway Safety Division (HSD) OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in the United Counties intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– August 26, 2016 – 9:45am (County Road 31-North Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 141km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (68) from Laval, Quebec charged accordingly.

– August 26, 2016 – 11:10am (Highway 401-South Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 166km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (27) from New Jersey, USA charged accordingly.

– August 26, 2016 – 1:23pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 155km/h (100km/h zone). Quantity of suspected marihuana also seized. Male driver (40) from Whitby, Ontario charged accordingly.

– August 27, 2016 – 1:11pm (County Road 43-North Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 141km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (59) from North Dundas Township charged accordingly.

– August 28, 2016 – 8:51am (County Road 43- North Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 136km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (23) from North Stormont Township charged accordingly.
