Marijuana Bust in Clarence Rockland #OPP Oct 4, 2016

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 521 calls for service from Sunday, September 18th to Saturday October 1st. Among those occurrences were the following; domestic disputes, extortion, thefts, drug offences and one impaired related incident.

As a result of those occurrences, two females and eleven males were charged with various offences.

Domestic Disputes

Russell County OPP officers investigated 7 domestic disputes during the past two weeks. A male from North Grenville was charged with extortion.

Alcohol related incident

Russell County Officer were conducted a R.I.D.E program on September 30th, Jackie MEUNIER, age 67 of Gatineau was arrested and charged with driving over 80mgs and care and control. He was released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal on October 26th, 2016.

Drug seizure

On September 28th 2015, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a Search Warrant in the City of Clarence-Rockland, the result of an investigation by the Russell OPP Community Drug Action Team.

Investigators seized cannabis marihuana plants, cannabis marihuana, cannabis marihuana oil and cannabis marihuana “shake” with an estimated street value of 39 855$.

Mark Norman LABRECQUE, aged 55 of Clarence-Rockland, ON, was arrested and charged with the following:

* Produce a schedule 2 substance (cannabis marihuana)

* Possession of a substance in Schedule 2 (cannabis resin)

* Possession of a substance in Schedule 2 for the purpose of Trafficking

The accused was held for bail and the next day release on a Recognizance. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice of Ontario in L’Orignal, ON, on October 5th 2016.

  1. Time and time again, scientific studies show the multitude of benefits marijuana provides. It’s time for the government to wake up and legalize this wonderful medicine.

  2. If we were made to smoke we would all have little chimneys on us. A few days ago some man in the park was smoking something awful strong in a pipe and there was blue smoke coming from that pipe.
