Ottawa Man Charged with Child Sexual Offences

(Ottawa) –Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section has charged an Ottawa man following an investigation into historical allegations of child sexual assaults. As part of their ongoing investigation which began in January 2016, two victims have now come forward to report abuse.

On October 4th, 2016 the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Section arrested and charged Maynard HAMILTON, 82, of Ottawa with one count of Indecent Assault on a Female and one count of Gross Indecency, as per Criminal Code charges existing at the time of the offences. These charges relate to incidents which occurred in Ottawa between 1972 and 1973.

HAMILTON was previously charged in May 2016 with four counts of Indecent Assault on a Female.  These charges relate to one victim which occurred between 1972 and 1975.

All incidents happened in the Bells Corners area of the city where HAMILTON was residing at the time.

He will appear in court on October 25th, 2016.

The Ottawa Police continue their investigation and are concerned there could be more victims.
