VICTIM IDENTIFIED IN FATAL COLLISION (update)

(South Stormont) – On November 21, 2016 at approximately 5:32pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 18, South Stormont Township (approximately 2 kilometers west of County Road 14 – Osnabruck Centre).

Further investigation has indicated that a passenger vehicle, driven by a 19-year-old male from South Stormont Township, was eastbound on County Road 18 when, for reasons under investigation, he lost control causing the vehicle to enter the south ditch striking three (3) adult male pedestrians who were assisting with a vehicle that had entered the ditch previously (separate incident). Two (2) were transported to the hospital where Shawn CRYDERMAN (53) of Cornwall, Ontario was pronounced deceased while a 32-year-old from North Dundas Township suffered life-threatening injuries. The third male (53) of South Stormont Township received minimal injuries and was treated at the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting with the investigation. A section of County Road 18 between Rombough Road and Morgan Road had been closed to traffic but has since re-opened at approximately 4:00am (November 22, 2016).
