SCHOOL BUSES CANCELLED in the Cornwall Ontario Area WED JAN 11, 2017

CORNWALL ONTARIO – School buses are cancelled as high winds beat the area.  Temps are warm and rain is expected that can cause icy surfaces, and treacherous driving and walking conditions.

High winds will persist through the days as temperatures rise and fall.  Expect more rain and mixed precipitation over night.

Thursday should see up to 20mm of rain fall as the high will hit 8c!

Wind warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong southwesterly winds of 60 gusting to 90 km/h are likely early this morning near the St. Lawrence River.

Winds will gradually diminish later this morning.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.

Jamie earlier there was a piece of news where one of OC Transpo double decker buses (part of their cattle cars LOL LOL) caught on fire picking up passengers out in Vars (just outside of Ottawa) and people were on board. I saw it on yahoo.ca and most likely the Ottawa toilet papers would carry the story as well. You should have seen the flames from the bus.

  2. There is no freezing rain as yet where I live in South Ottawa but it will be here soon as well as tomorrow and most likely the rest of the week for all we know. Take care and keep warm.
