DRUGS AND WEAPONS SEIZED

(North Stormont) – On January 25, 2017 at approximately 6:00pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Avonmore, North Stormont Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of an air pistol and quantities of suspected cocaine and Xanax pills. With the assistance of SD&G OPP Crime Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, further investigation resulted in the execution of a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a residence on Main Street in the Village of Avonmore. There, officers seized ammunition, brass knuckles and quantities of suspected marihuana and Acetaminophen pills.

Giovanni ROUSSEL (25 – vehicle driver/home owner) was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance (3 counts)
– Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
– Possession of Ammunition
– Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
– Fail to Comply with Undertaking (3 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
(North Glengarry) – On January 25, 2017 at approximately 1:44pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a male on Dominion Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that he was wanted in relation to an incident (Unlawfully in a Dwelling) from December 2016 in North Glengarry. Upon his arrest, a quantity of suspected hydromorphone was seized.

Matthew MACDONALD (28) of No Fixed Address is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Unlawfully in a Dwelling house

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
DISTURBANCE

(South Dundas) – On January 26, 2017 at approximately 5:03am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Service Centre of Highway 401 eastbound, South

Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male and female were involved in an altercation resulting in the female assaulting the male. Further information revealed that the male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.

A 19-year-old female from Ste-Marthe, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Causing a Disturbance
– Assault – Spousal

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 21, 2017. Her name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

A 22-year-old male from Montreal, Quebec was also arrested and is charged with;

– Causing a Disturbance
– Fail to Comply with a Probation Order

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
BREAK-IN

(North Dundas) – On January 25, 2017 at approximately 9:07am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on County Road 43, North Dundas Township. Investigation resulted in identifying a male suspect that had entered the home. A check of the male indicated that he was in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incidents.

Kirk STEWART (37) of North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Break, Enter a Dwelling House
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
