Busy Weekend for SD&G #OPP Round Up for MARCH 6, 2017

DOMESTIC – IMPAIRED DRIVER

(South Glengarry) – On March 4, 2017 at approximately 4:26pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in the Village of Avonmore, North Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that a male suspect had previously defaced a vehicle belonging to his ex-spouse. Police intercepted a vehicle being driven by the male nearby and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. Upon his arrest, he became resistant towards officers.

The 27-year-old male from South Dundas Township is charged with;

– Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample

– Resist Peace Officer

– Mischief – Domestic

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 14, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

THEFTS

(South Dundas) – On March 3, 2017 between 7:00am and 3:00pm, a 4-wheeled All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was stolen from a residential property on McKenzie Road, South Dundas Township. It is described as a white/grey 2016 Can-Am XMR-Outlander ATV with Ontario plate 6DR68.

An investigation continues.

(South Dundas) – Between February 27 and March 3, 2017, a utility trailer was taken from a property on Arlie Road, South Dundas Township. It is described as a black 2014 Homemade utility trailer with Ontario plate M1569C.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(Dundas/Glengarry) – Over the past weekend, SD&G and Highway Safety Division (HSD) OPP officers conducting speed measuring enforcement in the Counties of Dundas and Glengarry intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. In all stops, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– March 1, 2017 – 11:45am (County Road 43-North Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 143km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (19) from North Glengarry Township charged accordingly.

– March 3, 2017 – 9:42pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 160km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (27) from Etobicoke, Ontario charged accordingly.

– March 4, 2017 – 1:54pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 152km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (35) from Laval, Quebec charged accordingly.

– March 4, 2017 – 2:36pm (Highway 401-South Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 160km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (22) from Montreal, Quebec charged accordingly.

– March 5, 2017 – 10:42am (Highway 401-South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 170km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (20) from Buffalo, New York charged accordingly.
