Brockville to Cornwall FREEZING RAIN ALERT for Sunday March 26, 2017

CORNWALL ONTARIO – One last gasp of Winter rocked the River City this week.  As temperatures are starting to warm up again we have a Freezing Rain ALERT for Sunday March 26th for the evening and overnight.

Expect temps to warm up during the week heading towards double digits with rain and possibly some snow in the area.

Monday may be our last bus cancellation of the year.

Please drive and walk safely.

Warnings

5:20 AM EDT Sunday 26 March 2017
Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Freezing rain is expected later today into tonight.

Periods of freezing rain are expected to develop later this morning over regions extending from Algonquin Park across Renfrew to Brockville. The freezing rain is expected to spread into the Ottawa to Cornwall areas early this afternoon.

Latest indications show that freezing rain will persist into this evening before changing to rain as temperatures rise above the zero degree mark.

However, areas near the Ottawa Valley will likely take longer to rise above the freezing mark. These areas could see the freezing rain persist until well after midnight tonight.

Motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.

Since you’re here …

… we’ve got a small favour to ask. More people are reading the Cornwall Free News than ever, but far fewer are paying for it.

Advertising revenues across media are falling fast. And unlike some other news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism open to all. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. CFN’s independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps to support it, our future would be much more secure.  Please click the donate button below.
