4 Fatalities in 7 Vehicle Collision 401 W Near Kingston Closed MAY 11, 2017

(FRONTENAC, ON.) –   At 1:25 a.m. officers from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Frontenac, Leeds County and Napanee detachments, assisted by the Frontenac Fire Department, attended the scene of a multi vehicle collision.

The collision, which occurred westbound Highway 401, west of Joyceville Road exit at mile marker 642, involves seven vehicles, including four tractor trailer units, a commercial truck and two passenger vehicles, one of which became fully engulfed with fire. 

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are attending the scene. This investigation is still in its preliminary stages and further updates will be provided as confirmed and accurate information becomes available.

Detours are currently in place while the investigation continues.

(FRONTENAC, ON.) –   On May 11, 2017, officers from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Frontenac, Leeds County and Napanee detachments, assisted by the Frontenac Fire Department and OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI), attended the scene of a multi vehicle collision at 1:25 a.m.

The collision, which occurred on Highway 401 westbound, west of the exit for Joyceville Road, involved seven vehicles which included four tractor trailer units, a commercial truck and two passenger vehicles, one of which became fully engulfed with fire.

As a result of this collision, two persons have been transported to hospital with serious injuries and the four occupants of the fully engulfed vehicle have been confirmed deceased. The deceased will not be identified pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is still in its early stages and further updates will only be provided as confirmed and accurate information becomes available.

Highway 401 westbound will remain closed at Joyceville Road, for an undetermined amount of time to allow for the investigation. Detours are currently in place
