Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 124 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on May 29, 2017. Of these, 76 calls occurred in the city central area, 26 in the west end, 5 in the east end, and 1 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 6 domestic calls
  • 3 assault calls
  • 7 harassment calls
  • 4 fight/disturbance calls
  • 10 undesirable calls
  • 1 customer trouble call
  • 2 alarm calls
  • 5 noise complaints
  • 1 trouble with kids call
  • 1 missing person call
  • 2 Mental Health Act calls
  • 4 medical assist calls
  • 5 assist citizen calls
  • 4 break and enter calls
  • 9 theft calls
  • 3 shoplifting calls
  • 4 mischief calls
  • 3 fraud calls
  • 5 motor vehicle collisions
  • 2 parking/vehicle complaints
  • 4 driving complaints
  • 5 suspicious activity calls

There were 6 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 4 men and 2 women, between 24 and 33 years of age, for the following: assault, utter threats to cause death, theft under $5000, and breach of peace. One person was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Pair Arrested after Assaulting Each Other

A 33-year-old Marmora man and a 33-year-old woman of no fixed address have both been arrested after assaulting each other.

On May 29, 2017 at approximately 7:20 p.m. police responded to the area of Division Street and Benson Street for a report of a domestic in progress. The officers spoke to the man and woman and confirmed the pair were a couple. Officers observed that both had minor injuries and believed both were under the influence of alcohol. From witnesses, officers learned that both parties had committed assaults.

Both were arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

Both were charged with assault.

Assault and Threats during Argument Ends in Arrest

A 33-year-old local man was arrested after assaulting his common-law and making death threats.

On May 28, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m. police responded to a west end residence in regards to a domestic. Officers learned the accused had shaken the victim (common-law) during an argument. Further investigation revealed that just prior to the physical assault the accused had made death threats towards the victim, her children and a third party.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault and three counts of utter threats to cause death.

Woman Steals Victims Phone and then Assaults Her

A 27-year-old local woman has been charged after taking the victims phone during an argument and then assaulting her.

On May 23, 2017 the accused and the victim were residing at the same east end address. The accused confronted the victim with claims she stole her cell phone. When the victim denied taking the phone, the accused grabbed the victim’s phone and refused to return it. The accused then decided to assault the victim by shoving her and then grabbing her by the throat.

The accused left the residence and her whereabouts were unknown. The victim went to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

On May 29, 2017 the accused was located after she returned to the residence. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with theft under $5000 and assault.
