Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:
- Cornwall – Lancaster
- Maxville – Alexandria
- Morrisburg – Long Sault
- Winchester – Newington
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain late this afternoon and early evening. A cluster of thunderstorms near Ottawa is moving southeastward at 35 km/h.
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
A little friend in the picture is telling us the weather report. Yesterday while in the park there is a certain chirp that the chickadee bird makes every time it goes to rain and I go by that more than the weatherman who usually gets it wrong. LOL LOL.
As if we need more rain. The power went off this morning. I can tell right away when that happens as I have a CPAP machine and it goes off and I get no air as soon as the power goes out. Arrggghhhh!!!!!
