Update – DECEASED PERSON LOCATED ON SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY – PORTION OF HWY 417 CLOSED – Investigation Concluded
(RUSSELL COUNTY, ON) – On July 2, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Russell County detachment responded to a report of a deceased person on the shoulder portion of westbound Highway #417 near mile marker 88.
Officers attended the scene and located a female pedestrian that had been struck by a passing vehicle. A portion of Highway #417, was closed with detours in place, was re-opened on July 3, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m.
The Russell County OPP Crime Unit has concluded the investigation. The deceased has been identified as a 34 year old woman from Ottawa. Foul play has been ruled out in the investigation and the identity of the deceased is not being released.
