SD&G #OPP Round Up for Friday July 14, 2017

Traffic Safety Initiative

(South Stormont) The Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police will be conducting a local traffic safety initiative.   The OPP will be focusing on strict speed enforcement for the forthcoming weeks in the area of County Road 36(Post Road), South Stormont Township, due to numerous complaints about aggressive drivers.

Speeding and other forms of aggressive driving are dangerous behaviours and remain a leading cause in fatal motor vehicle collisions (MVC) on OPP-patrolled roads.

In 2016, 55 people died in motor vehicle collisions on OPP-patrolled roads in which speeding was causal factor.

Speeding, following too closely, making unsafe lane changes and failing to yield right-of-way are all forms of aggressive driving that place road users at risk.

Aggressive driving is one of the “Big Four” causal factors in road fatalities and that the OPP targets as part of its Provincial Traffic Safety Program.

The OPP remains committed to enforcing Ontario laws associated with speeding and aggressive driving in an effort to save lives on our roads.
