Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Accumulating snow associated with an Alberta Clipper will continue into this evening.

Snow began Monday night over eastern Ontario. Total snowfall accumulation from this event of 15 to 20 cm are likely by this evening. This snowfall event will stretch over a 24 to 36 hour period. Latest indications show that the snowfall warning threshold of 15 cm per 12 hours is not expected to be reached.

The snow will slowly taper off to flurries tonight. Northwest winds gusting to 50 km/h are also expected tonight, which may result in local blowing snow leading to reduced visibilities.

Poor winter driving conditions are expected. Untreated roads may become snow covered and slippery.

A “snow day” because it snowed?? Seriously?? I guess then we might as well close up the schools to the spring. Arrggghhhh!!!!!

When I was a kid the snow would reach the roof of our houses and I would make a lot of slides and skating rinks with the neighbor kids in Cornwall. Not once that I can ever recall of buses cancelled and everyone was in school no matter what. Our tiny street was not plowed most times and we managed to walk through the snow to school. Mighty lazy people today and I don’t say this lightly.

Not often I agree with Jules. But in this case she is spot on.

Hugger1 you may have it right. Perhaps with the changing demographics, that is the percentage of third generation Canadians or longer diminishing to apparently 60 percent of the population, hardened 4 seasoners are in less supply. Run the schools through the summer 6 days a week & skip winter.

I just found out that Pope Francis is behind all of this and he is one that I have absolutely no trust in and I am an RC. This is all scary stuff and I had to come off. The young people today have not experienced real winters like some of us have experienced and the weather is changing. Sea levels are rising and coastal areas are going to be flooded. Even the Pacific South Sea Islands.

Seriously??? Pope Francis is behind all the school buses being cancelled and the climate change!! You’re really reaching there!!! Arrggghhhh!!!!!

No Hugger Pope Francis is not behind the closing of schools and school buses. I was talking about something else and I guess everything got all screwed up. Well with me it wouldn’t be strange. I did some mighty weird things yesterday and I had my adult kids laughing. Nothing is too strange with me. LOL LOL.

Jules where is the evidence that sea level has changed at all? Or was it something that you heard from some undocumented source? Or perhaps a government paid scientist like a certain Canadian geneticist? Are you aware why they no longer say global warming but rather the all encompassing “climate change “?

Mr. Oldham this has been taken out of context and I had other things that I said that had nothing to do with the weather and the school buses. JALIL! Mr. Oldham the Arctic ice is melting but it will take 100 years for the entire ice shield to melt (at least) and then the entire world will be under water. That is not to mention Antarctica so we still have a little time left.

Here in Ottawa it can snow and snow and I haven’t seen school buses cancelled when my kids were in school where there was a lot more snow and cold than today. I always see the buses running (school and city buses). There is no reason for cancellation of the buses. One lady in Cornwall told my husband that the rural routes outside of Cornwall are better maintained than those of the city.

That was then, this is now. Or put a better way we’re raising a bunch of wussies!!
