Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Periods of freezing rain are likely for a few hours this morning as another area of precipitation moves into eastern Ontario. The precipitation may start off as snow before changing to freezing rain, but snowfall amounts are expected to be limited to a few centimetres at most.

The freezing rain is expected to be fairly light, but may accumulate a few millimetres of ice on some surfaces.

The threat of freezing rain will end by this afternoon as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
