Taking Car Caught w Cocaine & Sofa Towing Leads to Charges in Cornwall 020718 #CCPS

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jesse Vallieres, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on February 2nd, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to report a change of address in December, 2017 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 2nd, 2018 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended Smith Falls as Smiths Falls Police had the man in custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. He was transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Justin Rainey, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on February 2nd, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on February 2nd, 2018 the man removed merchandise from a store on Second Street East making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and located the man a short distance away. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 13th, 2018.

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – Jamie Lafave, 19 of Long Sault and two 17-year-old Cornwall youths were arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged on September 9th, 2017 Lafave was operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner when he was towing a sofa with passengers in the area of Second Street and Saunders Drive. All three were taken into custody, charged accordingly for their involvement and released to appear in court at a later date. The names of the two youths were not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

TAKE MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT, POSSESSION OF COCAINE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Samantha Derouchie, 25 of Cornwall was arrested on February 3rd, 2018 and charged with take motor vehicle without consent, possession of cocaine and breach of probation for being in possession of cocaine and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on February 2nd, 2018 the woman took a motor vehicle without permission and police were contacted to investigate. In the early morning hours of February 3rd, 2018 the woman was located by police, taken into custody and found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.


ASSAULT, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 4th, 2018 and charged with assault and threats. It is alleged during an argument on February 4th, 2018 the man assaulted his common-law wife and threatened to harm her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT, DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, FAIL TO REMAIN AT THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT.

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Kanata man was arrested on February 4th, 2018 and charged with assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and fail to remain at the scene of an accident. It is alleged during an argument on February 3rd, 2018 the man assaulted his girlfriend and her son. He then drove his pickup in a dangerous manner striking another vehicle as he left the area. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 4th, 2018 the man was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Robert MacDonald, 18 of Cornwall was arrested on February 4th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to report as directed and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 4th,, 2018 the man was located by police, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on March 1st, 2018.

OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Amy Benedict, 27 of Akwesasne was arrested on February 5th, 2018 and charged with over 80. It is alleged on February 5th, 2018 the woman was driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Pitt Street and Fifth Street. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 15th, 2018.

There were 134 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
