WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jacob Benoit, 18 of Cornwall was arrested on February 15th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance for being outside his residence between certain hours. It is alleged on February 15th, 2018 the man who was wanted by police on a warrant for not signing in was spotted in the area of the Cornwall Square. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase that ended in the area of Second Street and Gloucester Street. Benoit was also found to be in possession of a quantity of stolen chocolate bars. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.



BREAK AND ENTER, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Rainey, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on February 15th, 2018 and charged with two break and enters that occurred at local businesses on February 3rd, 2018. He was also charged with breach of recognizance and probation for failing to keep the peace. Rainey was also found to have breached his probation order for attending a certain business, being within 100 meters of that location and for being outside his residence between the hours of 11pm and 6am. It is alleged on February 3rd, 2018 the man forced his way into two local businesses and removed a quantity of money. Police were contacted and investigations ensued. On February 15th, 2018The man was spotted by an off duty member of the Cornwall Community Police Service. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

There were 42 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8am the previous day to 8am the day of the release).
