Busy Round Up for SD&G #OPP for February 20, 2018

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 169 calls for service from Friday February 16, 2018 to Monday February 20, 2018.

 

Among these occurrences, SD&G OPP responded to 10 domestic disputes,9 motor vehicle collisions, 2 neighbour disputes, 2 break and enter occurrences, 28 calls for police assistance, 17 traffic complaints and hazards, 16 Traffic enforcement occurrences, 10 911 calls, 5 alarm calls, 1 Impaired driving occurrence, 2 theft occurrences, 3 suspicious person calls, 4 mental health act calls,1 bail violation call, 2 community services occurrences,2 drug offence related calls, 4 family disputes, 3 fire occurrences,3 mischief calls, 1 sudden death investigation, 1 trespass call, 1 sexual assault investigation, 2 threat calls, 1 unwanted person call, 1 trouble with youth call,7 prevent breach of peace calls, 2 landlord tenant issues and 7 RIDE checks were conducted.

 

THREATS

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On February 16, 2018 at approximately 12:02 pm, Stormont Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a threatening incident at a business on Fred Street, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male threatened an employee at the location.

Pierre LORTIE (51) South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Uttering Threats

He was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on April 3, 2018.

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On February 16, 2018 at approximately 3:01pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle during a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marijuana from two males.

Sahba CHARMEE (18) of Ancaster, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Stavros THERSIDIS (18) of Ancaster, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 12, 2018.

 

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On February 17, 2018 at approximately 9:52pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE program on Carmen Road, South Dundas Township and intercepted a male driver. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Stephen THOMPSON (53) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on March 6, 2018.




EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

 

(SD&G) – On February 17-18, 2018, SD&G Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401, South Dundas Townships and Highway 417, North Glengarry Township and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

 

– February 17, 2018 – 11:01am (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 156km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (41) from Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

 

– February 17, 2018 – 6:42pm (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 169km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (57) from Mississauga, Ontario was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

 

– February 18, 2018 – 10:33am (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 157km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (25) from Virginia Water, United Kingdom was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

 

– February 17, 2018 – 10:43pm (North Glengarry); vehicle stopped travelling 155km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (48) from Ottawa, Ontario was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
