Cornwall Ontario –   CFN has confirmed that  The Cruickshank Group was the company defrauded of $600K by a Maxville woman who worked for the company.

CFN spoke with Mr. Jason Makin, VP of Logistics and Materials at the company via telephone who confirmed that the firm was the victim of the fraud.  He provided the following statement:

This is obviously a very unfortunate situation for Cruickshank Construction and the other organizations involved. Customers, suppliers and employees of Cruickshank Construction can rest assured that business will continue as usual and that there will be no impact to our normal operations. The matter is now in the hands of the courts so we cannot comment any further on the case or the charges.

Their former controller, a 52 year old woman from Maxville allegedly connected to the Highland Games, was charged by Kingston Police.

There are unproven allegations that the woman was trying to replace monies that went missing from the area tourism event that draws out the who’s who of regional politicians including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Kingston Police have not released the name of the woman as of press time.
