Threats to Girlfriend’s Dog Sees Cornwall Man Charged #CCPS Blotter 072318

MISCHIEF, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 20th, 2018 and charged with mischief under $5000 and threats. It is alleged during an argument on July 20th, 2018, the man threatened to slash his girlfriend’s tires and damaged a seat in the vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 21st. 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Rainey, 29, of Ottawa was arrested on July 21st, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to remain in his residence and failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 21st, 2018, while investigating an unrelated matter, police located the man outside of his residence, despite his conditions. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 47-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 21st, 2018 and charged with assault and threats. It is alleged during an argument on July 19th, 2018 the man assaulted his girlfriend and threatened to kill her dog. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During a traffic stop on July 21st, 2018 the man was taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Frank Benedict, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on July 22nd, 2018 and charged with breach of recognizance for failing to report to police and failing to abide by a curfew. He was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man breached his conditions by being outside his residence during his curfew on June 29th, 2018. The man also allegedly failed to report to police on July 2nd, 2018, despite his conditions. On July 22nd, 2018, while investigating an unrelated matter, police located the man who was allegedly outside his residence during his curfew. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.




THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Lalonde, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on July 22nd, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 22nd, 2018 the man attended a Second Street East store and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 4th, 2018.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Richard Marini, 50, of Cornwall was arrested on July 22nd, 2018 and charged with breach of recognizance for being outside his residence and being within the city of Cornwall. It is alleged on July 22nd, 2018 police located the man in breach of his conditions. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, OVERCOME RESISTANCE

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 23rd, 2018 and charged with assault and overcome resistance (choking). It is alleged during an argument on July 22nd, 2018 the man assaulted and choked his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 23rd, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

There were 149 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
