Cornwall Community Police Service Blotter for Tuesday Oct 16, 2018

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on October 15th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on September 25th, 2018 for domestic-related offences and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 15th, 2018, a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody for an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and the man remained in custody pending for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THEFT UNDER $5000 x 2, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Chiara Smoke-Thompson, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on October 15th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 x2 and assault. It is alleged on October 15th, 2018 the woman attended two Second Street East stores and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the stores. The woman was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and subsequently assaulted him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 29th, 2018.
