FREEZING RAIN ALERT for Cornwall Ontario Area NOV 24, 2018

Cornwall Ontario –  There’s a freezing rain alert for Saturday.   With temps hoving around zero the wet stuff can freeze quickly making roads and walkways hazardous.

Expect the warm weather to extend into Sunday with more moisture expected overnight as temps rise to a high of +5 Sunday.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Winchester – Newington

Freezing rain to begin late this afternoon.

Freezing rain is expected to move into Eastern Ontario late this afternoon into early evening. The freezing rain will begin to change to rain late in the evening as temperatures rise above the freezing mark. However, areas in the Ottawa Valley may remain below the freezing mark most of the night with freezing rain persisting into early Sunday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
