Opioids & Weapons Charges for Cornwall Man #CCPS Police Blotter 112618

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Derek Mayer, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on November 23rd, 2018 and charged with the following:

• theft under $5000
• breach of undertaking x 2 (failing to keep the peace and failing to abide by probation order)
• breach of probation (failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged on November 23rd, 2018, the man attended a Sydney Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

CAUSE DISTURBANCE, THREATS, ASSAULT POLICE

Cornwall, ON – Jean Mitchell, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on November 23rd, 2018 and charged with cause disturbance, threats and assault police. It is alleged on November 23rd, 2018 police attended the area of Montreal Road and Lawrence Avenue, where the man was causing a disturbance by yelling and screaming, as well as making threats to harm two men who were not known to him. The man was subsequently taken into custody, at which time he attempted to assault a police officer. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Kanatase Mitchell, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on November 23rd, 2018 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Eleventh Street and McConnell Avenue. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 4th, 2018.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, DRIVE WHILE DISQUALIFIED, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Crystal Wagner, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on November 24th, 2018 and charged with the following:

• impaired operation of a motor vehicle
• over 80
• drive while disqualified
• breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)
• breach of recognizance x 3 (for failing to notify a change of address, operating a motor vehicle, and for consuming alcohol)

During the early morning hours of November 24th, 2018, it is alleged the woman was operating a motor vehicle while disqualified and under the influence of alcohol in the area of Marlborough Street and Water Street. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Elton Cox, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on November 24th, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for consuming alcohol, failing to notify a change of address to police, and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the intoxicated man was breaching his conditions on the morning of November 24th, 2018 and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.



IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Richard Bonin, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on November 24th, 2018 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Tenth Street. The man was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 4th, 2018.

POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, ASSAULT, POSSESSION OF OPIOIDS

Cornwall, ON – Garry Barstch, 45, of Cornwall was arrested on November 25th, 2018 and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault, as well as possession of opioids. On November 25th, 2018, a member of the Cornwall Police Service Mobile Community Watch team observed the man allegedly assault another man while in possession of a bat. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of opioids. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 27th, 2018.

THEFT UNDER $5000 x 2, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Luis Rodriguez, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on November 25th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 x 2 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 24th, 2018, the man attended a Ninth Street business on two occasions and removed electronics, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 25th, 2018, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 27th, 2018.

ASSAULT, OVERCOME RESISTANCE, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 25th, 2018 and charged with assault, overcome resistance (choking), and threats. It is alleged during an argument on November 25th, 2018, the man assaulted and choked his girlfriend, as well as made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located during a traffic stop shortly thereafter, at which time he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 11th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 26th, 2018 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during an argument on November 25th, 2018, the man assaulted his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 11th, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
