Taser Tug Leads to Charges for MICHAEL McEWAN in Cornwall #CCPS 123118

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Justin Pyper, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court for probation charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located on December 27th, 2018, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Jamin Crowder, 21of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court for probation charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located on December 27th, 2018, taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on December 27th and December 28th, 2018 and charged with breach for failing to notify a change of address, being in the company of someone she has conditions not to communicate with and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 27th and 28th, 2018 the youth was found to be in the company of someone she has conditions not to communicate with. She was taken into custody,charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Zachary McKinnon, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2018 and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument on December 27th, 2018 the man threatened a man known to him with a knife and police were contacted to investigate. The man was taken into custody during the investigation, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 17th, 2019.

DISARMING A POLICE OFFICER, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, RESIST ARREST, MISCHIEF, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Michael McEwan, 44 of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2018 and charged with the following:

  • Disarming a police officer
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Mischief
  • Breach of probation for failing to keep the peace

It is alleged on December 27th, 2018 while in the area of Adolphus Street and Water Street a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service spotted a man known to be wanted for mischief and breach of probation. While attempting to arrested the man a struggle ensued and the man gained control of the officer’s Conductive Energy Weapon (taser) and deployed it. It is also alleged during the struggle the officer was bit by the man on several occasions. With the assistance of other officers the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Alexander Mitchell, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on December 28th, 2018 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged in the early morning hours of December 28th, 2018 the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Carleton Street and First Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR PRINTS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Alexander Mitchell, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on December 28th, 2018 and charged with failing to attend for prints and breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man failed to attend for prints on November 14th, 2018 and an investigation ensued. On December 28th, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 31st, 2019.

There were 99 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
