Drug Busts & Forcible Confinement in Cornwall Ontario #CCPS Police Blotter 032119

ASSAULT x 3, FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT x 2, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, MISCHIEF, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Dalkeith man was arrested on March 20th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Assault x 3
• Forcible confinement x 2
• Assault with a weapon
• Threats
• Mischief under $5000
• Breach of undertaking (for failing to notify a change of address)

It is alleged between 2017 and February 2019, the man assaulted his girlfriend on multiple occasions and on one occasion, burned her with a cigarette. The man also allegedly prevented her from leaving the residence, damaged her cell phone, as well as made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 20th, 2019, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old man of St. Zotique, QC was arrested on March 20th, 2019 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged throughout November 2018, the man failed to report to police as per his conditions and a warrant was issued for his arrest. It is further alleged throughout February and March 2019, the man assaulted and made threats to harm his girlfriend on multiple occasions and warrants were issued for his arrest. On March 20th, 2019, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DRUG WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – On March 20th, 2019, members of the Cornwall Police Service Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, executed a drug warrant at a Prince Arthur Street address. As a result of the warrant, a quantity of controlled substances were located, including crack cocaine, cocaine, methamphetamine pills, and codeine. Illicit cannabis (shatter) was also located, in addition to bear spray and a quantity of Canadian currency.

The seized drugs are estimated to be a street value of approximately $19,500.00.

As a result of the investigation, Jason Campbell, 32, of Augusta Township was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. He was charged with the following:

• Possession of cocaine
• Possession of methamphetamine
• Possession of codeine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Trafficking in cocaine
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon
• Possession of illicit cannabis
