Cornwall Ontario – After heavier than expected snowfall Friday, expect freezing rain and ice pellets into Saturday as temps warm up to a high of -2c tomorrow.

Roads which already are difficult will be treacherous Saturday and should be avoided unless necessary.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Freezing rain is expected to begin overnight or early Saturday morning. The freezing rain will change to snow Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon. Most areas will see several hours of freezing rain and amounts near 2 to 5 mm.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Utility outages may occur.

Snow today and possible freezing rain tonight.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected before tapering off this evening. The snow will become mixed with freezing rain and ice pellets early Saturday morning and then change back to all snow late Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon. Further snow and ice pellet amounts of 2 to 4 cm are possible on Saturday.

Motorists should be prepared for poor winter travelling conditions today, tonight and Saturday.
