SD&G #OPP Round Up for Monday January 22, 2018

SD&G OPP NEWS

 

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 126 calls for service from Friday January 19, 2018 to Monday January 22, 2018.

Among these occurrences, OPP responded to 7 domestic disputes, 1 mischief offence, 3 assaults,1 threat call, 1 theft, 18 motor vehicle collisions, 1 drug offence related occurrence, 1 mental health act call, 3 bail Violation calls, 1 family dispute, 3 neighbour disputes, 3 landlord tenant issues, 1 fraud related occurrence, 3 harassment calls, 3 landlord tenant act occurrences, 18 calls for police assistance, 17 traffic complaints and hazards, 7 Traffic enforcement occurrences and 10 RIDE checks were conducted.



DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On January 20, 2018 at approximately 10:15am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation had taken place between a male and his common law wife. The Investigation revealed that the male had damaged property at the home and was in contravention of previous release conditions.

A 24-year-old male from South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief ( 3 counts)

– Fail to comply with conditions of an Undertaking

He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On January 20-21, 2018, SD&G Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement on Highway 401, South Dundas Township and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– January 20, 2018 – 11:33am (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 157km/h (100km/h zone). Male driver (34) from Montreal, Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

– January 21, 2018 – 9:23am (South Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 152km/h (100km/h zone). Female driver (29) from Mirabel, Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).

 

TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN CHARGES

(SOUTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On January 21, 2018 at approximately 1:57am, SD&G Ontario Provincial Police officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. This resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

Quentin VILON (19) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Amber BRADY (18) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released and are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on February 7, 2018.

 

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

 

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On January 21, 2018 at approximately 11:49pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence in South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation had taken place between a male and his girlfriend. The Investigation revealed that the male had damaged property at the home and threatened the victim.

A 33-year-old male from South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief

– Uttering Threats

 

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on February 20, 2018.

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
