#OPP SD&G Round Up for Monday January 29, 2018

SD&G OPP NEWS

(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 119 calls for service from Friday January 26, 2018 to Monday January 29, 2018.

Among these occurrences, OPP responded to 2 domestic disputes, 1 assault, 10 motor vehicle collisions, 1 drug offence related occurrence, 1 bail Violation call, 3 family disputes, 1 neighbour dispute, 2 fraud related occurrences, 1 break and enter occurrence, 17 calls for police assistance, 22 traffic complaints and hazards, 6 Traffic enforcement occurrences, 7 911 calls, 4 alarm calls, 1 sudden death investigation, 2 Trespass to property calls, 1 trouble with youth call, 1 liquor licence act call, 2 Impaired driving occurrences and 3 RIDE checks were conducted.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) – On January 26, 2018 at approximately 3:09pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a domestic disturbance in North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an adult male had caused damage to property within the home.

The adult male (29) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

–             Mischief

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on March 6, 2018.

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION

(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On January 26, 2018 at approximately 6:53pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Highway 138 in South Stormont Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation had taken place between a male and his girlfriend. The Investigation revealed that the male had assaulted the female.

A 39-year-old male from South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 6, 2018

His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On January 27, 2018 at approximately 5:01pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a traffic complaint on County Road 43, North Dundas Township. SD&G OPP officers located the vehicle and the investigation revealed that the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Shannon LACOMBE-GALLAGHER (34) of Carlsbad Springs, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 15, 2018.

EXCESSIVE SPEEDS

(NORTH DUNDAS,ON) – On January 28, 2018, SD&G Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement on County Road 13, North Dundas Townships and intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– January 28, 2018 – 12:59pm (North Dundas); vehicle stopped travelling 134km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (35) from St. Sauver, Quebec was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act). The male driver was also charged for driving while under suspension (Highway traffic Act).




IMPAIRED DRIVER

(SOUTH DUNDAS,ON) – On January 28, 2018 at approximately 11:50pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 2, South Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

James BARR (62) of South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Drive a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood

– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 15, 2018.

 

UPDATE :FATAL – MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

VICTIM IDENTIFIED

(NORTH STORMONT,ON) – On January 23, 2018 Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the scene of a two vehicle fatal collision on County Road 43, North Stormont Township.

Investigation has indicated that at approximately 10:12pm, a passenger vehicle was travelling westbound on County Road 43 North Stormont Township, when for reasons under investigation, the westbound passenger vehicle entered into the eastbound lane and struck an eastbound passenger vehicle.

The adult male driver Leopold CUSSON (69) of Gatineau, Quebec (lone occupant) of the westbound passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The adult female driver (34) of Cornwall, Ontario (lone occupant) of the eastbound vehicle was transported to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

SD&G OPP, assisted by OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate.
