Clement Council Waste Plan We be an Expensive Disaster by Jamie Gilcig 030819

Ugh snowflakes. Listening to Carolyne Hebert frankly gives me gas. Sadly, we get the government we collectively deserve and a rigged pro labour election has seen her and other snowflakes rubber stamp management budgets and plan.

Starting April it appears that we will have a six bag limit in Cornwall per house for Garbage. And those with heavy items will have to pay to have them removed.

This in a city with an average income level that is already nearly the lowest in the province due to so many on fixed incomes.

People on fixed incomes don’t have money for extra garbage bag tags or to call in a company to take away old mattresses. Can you just imagine over crammed dollar store bags bursting and flowing down streets across our town?

In parts of Cornwall we will see garbage strewn and dumped en masse. Who will be on the hook for that clean up?

Does it make sense for city managers who don’t even live in Cornwall to come up with these utterly unrealistic plans? Does it make sense for imbecilic snowflake like Carolyne Hebert to support such nonsense? (Apparently she wants a two bag limit)

This kumba ya ra ra might work in parts of Riverdale, but does anyone really think it will in what’s derogatorily called the “French Harlem” area of Cornwall?

Do seniors on pensions who barely can afford their necessities be expected to pay excessive fees to haul away old chairs and mattresses?

Does anyone think the Sally Ann or Habitat for Humanity are going to spend money to essentially pick up junk?

What about those that live in a duplex where one tenant happily puts out their 3 bags, but their creepy, disgusting, chain smoking, messed up offspring like to put out eight and a dead cat?

Will the city go after tenants or building owners?

At the end of the day strong leadership should realize the realities of their communities.

Cornwall is a senior heavy town, with a large chunk of the community under employed or on disability. It is not progressive as much as the Pink Mafia would like it to be. It simply is a waste of taxpayers money to try and force it on those that have enough to worry about just surviving.

At the end of the day there are other options for waste that the city should consider and honestly how will we attract people to Cornwall if we copy other communities that have actual reasons to attract people?

Right now we have high taxes, poor services, no culture, really bad roads, horrible government, and corrupt police and city government; most of whom don’t even live in Cornwall because even they don’t want to deal with our issues.

Taking away some of the few less stressful things like being able to put out one’s garbage shouldn’t be a focus. Sadly, this is what it seems Bernadette Clement and her council are focused on. Getting headlines and being mediocre and messed up.

If that’s really their goal so far it seems to be working.

Editor’s Note: For those of you with really weak reading comprehension skills, this is an editorial. That means it’s an opinion piece which is actually quite different than a news piece.

  1. Could someone please explain the details of this 6 bag limit ? Are black garbage bags still allowed, or must they be the clear type ? What size is the maximum (liters) or measurements ? How much for the tags, for extra bags ? What about special pickups like leaves & yard waste ? Or, did our “gongers” lose that also ! So far, this gang is worse than the “O’Shaughnesy crew, pathetic.

Essentially the Pink Mafia have a free pass to implement whatever comes into their precious thinkers ET. It’s going to be an expensive and scary rest of the term.

Just remember. It’s time for Brampton 2.0 here in the River City.

  3. I agree with E.T. Bass. The “city” has yet to define what a bag, etc is. When we lived in Casselman, which has a 2 bag/week limit, they were very specific what will/won’t be picked up. I see major problems arising with this bylaw as it has been presented to council and the taxpayers.

  4. There is a good idea to get rid of the Clement waste and that is to throw all the council into so many bags and sent off to the dump where they all belong. None are any good for anything but to drain the system from the taxpayers. All are there for a salary since there is nothing left in Cornwall at all.

  5. Some ideas are just too unreal to even start to believe where they came from!!

  6. This council that has Caroline Hébert and other useless ding a lings in it are there only for a paycheque and none have brains to use to figure things out before coming out with NITWIT ideas. There are recycling facilities down in Cornwall – USE THEM and also leaves and potato peellings, vegetable peelings can be kept in a special container to make good ground to be put in the soil when spring co

  7. Another thing to recycle in your garden are egg shells. All what I am telling you is the truth and mom and dad have been doing this long before I was ever born along with others. I have learned great deal over the many long years.

  8. It wasn’t council who came up with the new waste plan. It was forced on council by city managers. Another example of why we need to sweep city hall. Council needs to make the final decisions, not city managers. Council should NOT be placed in a position where they have no other options.

Hugger that’s why Brampton 2.0 was so important this past election and will be the next one. The status quo has not been working and hopefully more people will realize that as the Clement Gong Show keeps burning cash.

Council has to replace the CAO as Brampton did with one with a clear mandate to review and replace city managers that are not achieving results. It’s costing us millions to have people like Mark Boileau and Bob Peters sucking back their salaries….and sadly there are more. Brampton fired 25 city managers. By my count at least 13 have to go.

People have to understand that if we pay you a Sunshine list salary it’s to serve all of the public; not just a few in the clique.

  10. Here in Ottawa the roads are full of potholes and some are really big and like hubby said the managers and others steal the money and use lower grade tar on the roads.

  11. Come on Jules, there’s no way they steal the money and use low grade asphalt. It’s all tendered

  12. Yesterday I looked on line about the poison that hubby was using to kill weeds and it causes cancer. If I had a piece of land I would used only white vinegar to kill weeds and anything that is natural. That garbage that hubby used was deadly and it stunk all over the neighborhood day and night. About recycling recycle potato peelings, egg shells and certain things into the ground. Did a hole.

  13. Pete I know what goes on in the cities and we purchased a home from a city worker many years ago and he was full of tricks along with his co-workers. I don’t want to reveal any more than this but yes the tricks are there and everywhere. All are there for a pay cheque and what they can steal from the public. I have seen and heard more than what I want to know. Yes all this is true and so much.

  14. Painting everyone with the same brush AGAIN!! It isn’t that easy, but some seem to think it is!!

  15. Pete the roads in my section of the city were paved last year and it is all full of holes and some very deep. Yes it is a low grade ashfault and I have heard about this going on. Yes people who work in the city sure do steal and believe me I know because I have seen things that were taken from the city in the house that we purchased. The roads here in Ottawa are full of holes.
