Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service wishes to educate our community regarding a new local fraud. The Consolidated Bottle Corporation has recently been targeted in a fraudulent cheque cashing scam. Individuals have received cheques and instructions in the mail claiming we are seeking their help in market research or other types of survey work. The Consolidated Bottle Corporation has not initiated any request or activity of this kind. These cheques are fraudulent and no attempt must be made to cash them.

 

Any recipients of these items are strongly urged to report this activity to the Cornwall Community Police Service or follow up with a call to the Consolidated Bottle Corporation at 416-656-7777.

THEFT, BREACH & FRAUD

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 29th, 2013. He was bound by a Probation Order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on April 20th, 2013 he removed cheques from his 62-year-old grand-mother. It is also alleged that between April 22nd and 24th, 2013 he deposited several cheques fraudulently. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was located and charged with Theft under $5000, Breach of Probation Order, Attempt to commit Fraud, 2 counts of Fraud under $5000 and 5 counts of utter forged documents. He was released to appear in court on June 4th, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

 

THEFT

 

            Cornwall, ON- Two Cornwall men were arrested on April 29th, 2013. It is alleged that on April 29th, 2013 they unlawfully removed numerous steel items from a Second Street West property. Police were contacted and an investigation followed.

 

Michel Leblanc, 44, was charged with Theft under $5000 and released to appear in court on June 4th, 2013.

 

Jody Burgess, 44, was bound by a Probation Order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was charged with Theft under $5000 and Breach of Probation Order. He was released to appear in court on June 4th, 2013.

 

DOEMSTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON- A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 29th, 2013. He was bound by a Non-Communication Order with the conditions of abstain from communication directly or indirectly with his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend. It is alleged that on March 28th, 2013 he sent the 24-year-old female a letter. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Fail to comply with the Non-Communication Order. He was held in custody until court later that day. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON- A 36-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 29th, 2013. It is alleged that on April 19th, 2013 she got into an altercation with her 37-year-old boyfriend when she assaulted him. The victim did not require medical treatment. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with Domestic Assault and held in custody until court later that day. Her name was not released as it may identify the victim.

WARRANTS

            Cornwall, ON- Rahsontanostha Delormier, 18 of Akwesasne was arrested on April 29th, 2013 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on April 23rd, 2013 he failed to attend court and a warrant was issued. He turned himself in to police and was held in custody until court later that day.

Cornwall, ON- Timothee Provost-Raymond, 27 of Chateauguay, Quebec, was arrested on April 29th, 2013 under the strength of three outstanding warrants. It is alleged that on July 14th, 2008 he failed to attend court and a bench warrant was issued, as well as the charges consisting of theft under $5000, fail to attend for fingerprints, fail to re-attend court and breach Undertaking. He was arrested by Chateauguay Police Department and turned over to members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Community Patrol Division. He was held in custody until court the following day.

ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON- A 61-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 29th, 2013. It is alleged that on April 29th, 2013 he got into an altercation with a 49-year-old neighbour regarding property when he assaulted her twice. The victim suffered minor injuries. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with 2 counts of Assault and was released to appear in court on June 4th, 2013. His name was not released as it may identify the victim.

THEFT

            Cornwall, ON- Jazminn Levasseaur, 21 of Long Sault and Oliver McTaggart, 28 of Cornwall were arrested on April 29th, 2013. It is alleged that on April 10th, 2013 while at an acquaintance’s father’s residence, they removed property. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. They were both charged with Theft under $5000. It is also alleged that on April 19th, 2013 she was unlawfully in a dwelling. She was additionally charged with Break & Enter. They were both held in custody until court the following day.

BREAK & ENTER

           

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigating a Break & Enter that occurred between April 21st and 29th, 2013 at a Brookdale Avenue business. The suspect(s) gained entry and removed copper wire, a laptop computer, battery charger and tools. DOMESTIC ASSAULT & ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 23-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 29th, 2013. It is alleged that on April 29th, 2013 she got into an altercation with her 23-year-old boyfriend when she pulled his hood of his sweater and continuously assaulted him. The victim was not injured. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with 2 counts of Domestic Assault and Assault with a weapon. She was released to appear in court on June 6th, 2013.

 

DRUGS

            Cornwall, ON- Thomas Kingsley, 25 of Ottawa war arrested on April 29th, 2013. It is alleged that on April 29th, 2013 he was found by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Community Patrol Division to be in possession of a controlled substance believed to be marijuana. He was charged with Possession of a controlled substance and released to appear in court on June 6th, 2013.
