CFN –  Joan Levy-Earle (Mann) was at the public library this afternoon, concerning her newest book The Road Home.  It’s about her faith journey and weaves in stories of many local figures.  She’s still an artist (painter), has taught dance, operated The Sanctuary, etc.  Her name is well-known in the area.  The next book (under development) will focus on Kytes (the store at that land mark before she purchased it).

Although she re-marrried after Jack’s death and is living in Toronto, she returns “home” to Cornwall monthly to visit her mom and the grand kids

One of the most breathtaking sceneries I have ever encountered. Nestled away in a small town El Macao in the Dominican Republic this public beach is one of the top ten beaches in the world.

Not only did I have the pleasure of visiting here not once but twice.  I was vacationing in Punta Cana this past week, with my husband co-workers and friends and stumbled across it while on some resort offered adventure tours.  I hope to visit here again in the future.

Don Ross

CFN – We had a real treat Saturday night when two fabulously talented musicians took the stage in Morrisburg. The stage was sold out again. Graham Greer, a well recognized local talent and new Communications Coordinator for the Aultsville Theatre, went on first and entertained the audience with his casual banter and flawless renditions of his songs past and new. We have come to expect a great performance from Graham and he always delivers.

There were a lot of expectations for Don Ross’ performance last night and he did not fail to meet them. I first heard of Don from Chris Thompson when he performed on the stage last November. Don’s guitar playing artistry has reached legendary status and after watching him perform I now know why. I don’t have the vocabulary to describe what I witnessed Saturday night so I will let my videos speak for me.

CFN – Here is your Cornwall Free News Photo of the Day for Thursday January 19, 2012.    The attached image of Cedar Waxwings was taken  by Mr. Jacques Bouvier on a Highbush Cranberry shrub in Summerstown, Ontario.

Mr. Bouvier is an avid birder and photographer from St-Isidore, Ontario. Waxwings like Robins eat fruits almost exclusively during the winter.

Mr. Bouvier mentioned that there is a bumper crop of all kinds of fruits this year and as a result the American Robin and other fruit loving birds are having a field day in Eastern Ontario.
