Cornwall ON -- A beautifully flawed and talented man passed away.  Dennis Hopper has died from his fight with Cancer at the age of 74.   The actor, director, and art collector had been battling the effects of the disease.

He began acting in television in the 1950s, and by 1955 was appearing with James Dean in “Rebel Without a Cause.” In the late ‘60s, he co-wrote, directed and starred in the counterculture classic “Easy Rider,” along with Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson, triggering a wave of anti-establishment films.

His spirit was renowned and shined through his movie roles over a career that lasted over six decades.

Cornwall ON -- Former Child Star Gary Coleman has died in the oddest of places, Provo Utah, in the heart of Osmond country.

The Different Strokes star had been in a few films, but his life became one reality show episode after another from alleged wife abuse, to drunken driving, and marital issues.

Cornwall ON - Simon Monjack, the husband of Brittney Murphy was found dead in Los Angeles.    Medications were found near his body, but no suicide note and the coroner is going to determine the cause of death.

The similarities are remarkable. Murphy was found unconscious by her mother Sharon. Sharon found Simon unconscious as well. Murphy was found in the master bathroom. Simon was found in the master bedroom of the same home. Paramedics administered CPR to Simon. Simon administered CPR to Brittany. And they may have both died from cardiac arrest … five months apart.

Cornwall ON - Metal Legend Ronnie James Dio has passed away at the age of 67.   Mr. Dio had been suffering from Stomach cancer.

The former Black Sabbath singer who replaced Ozzy Osbourne had still hoped to perform, but his band, “Heaven and Hell, had cancelled their summer tour.

Cornwall ON - Legendary Actress Lena Horne has passed away at the age of 92.     A break through actress and human being Ms Horne was  thanked by Halle Berry, who’ll probably play her one day in a movie, as a beacon that paved the way to  her being chosen the first African American Best Actress at the Oscars.

Lena Mary Calhoun Horne, the great-granddaughter of a freed slave, was born in Brooklyn June 30, 1917, to a leading family in the black bourgeoisie. Her daughter, Gail Lumet Buckley, wrote in her 1986 bookThe Hornes: An American Family that among their relatives was a college girlfriend of W.E.B. Du Bois and a black adviser to Franklin D. Roosevelt.

By the 1960s, Horne was one of the most visible celebrities in the civil rights movement, once throwing a lamp at a customer who made a racial slur in a Beverly Hills restaurant and in 1963 joining 250,000 others in the March on Washington when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech. Horne also spoke at a rally that same year with another civil rights leader, Medgar Evers, just days before his assassination.

Cornwall ON –  Malcolm McLaren, the man who brought us The Sex Pistols and a pillar of the British Punk Movement of the late 70′s and 80′s has died at the age of 64.  He also managed The New York Dolls.

The BBC’s creative director Alan Yentob said: “Without Malcolm, despite what people say, the punk era would never have been the kind of focus that it did become.

“Malcolm loved the idea of it and it was he, who, in a way, sold the idea to the public and understood what it meant.”

He said: “He was always ready to say something provocative.

“I think he famously said that his grandmother told him you needed to be a bad boy to survive – it was good to be bad. He wanted to shock and surprise you.”

Malcolm McLaren died of Mesothelioma in Switzerland earlier this week.  He’s being flown back to England for funeral.

Cornwall ON – The Polish President, Lech Kaczynski died in a plane crash in Russia that killed over 70 people including key members of the Polish Government including the Central Bank Governor and politicians.

“As it was preparing for landing, the Polish president’s aircraft did not make it to the landing strip,” he said.

“According to preliminary reports, it got caught up in the tops of trees, fell to the ground and broke up into pieces. There are no survivors in that crash.”

It has been suggested in media reports that the Russian made Tupolev 154 plane may have been over crowded.

If ever there truly was a “Lost Boy” it was actor Corey Haim who has passed away at the age of 38 in Burbank California.   A child actor that succumbed to success and fame and who never found his path.

Immediate reaction in Hollywood was sadness from the other Corey, Corey Feldman to those he had touched and worked with.   In recent years Haim had appeared in reality TV shows and became more of a character than actor.

In the end he simply was another Lost Angel in a city and industry that eats its own.  In an odd piece of trivia Singer Rick James died in the same apartment complex.

Our condolences to the family of Marie Osmond whose son Michael Blosil leaped to his death from a Los Angeles apartment.  A suicide note was found.

Michael, who was 18 and is one of Marie’s eight children, died after jumping from his downtown Los Angeles apartment at about 9 p.m. on Friday night. He left a note explaining he intended to commit suicide due to his life-long battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.

Ms Osmond who has been performing in Las Vegas with her brother Donny have cancelled their performance.

The body of Andrew Koenig, son of Star Trek actor Walter Koenig, was found in Stanley Park in Vancouver British Columbia Canada in an apparent suicide.    Walter Koenig flew to Vancouver from California to participate in the search for his son who had gone missing.
