Follicley Challenged former Montrealer residing in Cornwall Ontario now for almost Eight years.

Not a Journalist, but a screenwriter by trade.  Created the 2003 Oscar nominated Prisoner of Paradise and producer on Darkroom.  Former Montreal Canadiens video statistical guru.

Cornwall resident Richard Komorowski is a freelance writer with a passion for energy and environmental issues dating back to the 60s, when he studied biology in university.

Richard writes Komorowski’s Korner for us.

He is the owner of Boromir “BO” Komorowski the Green Mascot of SD&SG!


Writer and artist, Lorna Foreman has been a journalist for 10 years writing on the arts.

As well, she is a contributor to Fifty-Five Plus having written her column “The Rest is Best” since 1998.

Lorna  wrote, produced and hosted 30 ½ hour programmes “Welcome to My Studio” for the local Community Television Channel.  Currently she is working on several children’s books and a concept for a Television series.  She is also the author of “Wheat Watchers” a cookbook primarily for Celiacs but for anyone who enjoys experimenting with different grains.  Lorna lives in Cornwall, Ontario,  with her two cats, who are definitely inspiration for her writing. 

 

 

Jacqueline Milner

Photographer/Proprietor/Visual Artist/Environmentalist.

Having reverence for all life inspires Milner to take up pen and paper to share Earth Matters.

The goal is to inspire love and respect through sharings which can help us be better friends to Mother Earth.

Kevin Parkinson is an occasional contributor and Letter to the Editor Writer.   He’s also a retired educator and lives in Cornwall.

His favorite hobby is writing about politics and world events, including local issues. He believes very strongly in the democratic process and encourages everyone to protect their rights and freedoms while they still can. His articles are available at his website

 

 

Vanessa Carter, is a current first year medical student at the University of Ottawa, who will be coming back to the City of Cornwall to practice as a family practitioner.

After attending l’ecole secondaire La Citadelle, she continued her education & ice hockey goaltending at Castleton State College in Vermont, USA.

She loves her Toronto Maple Leafs (yes at some point they will have a comeback) & loves to bake themed cupcakes for various occasions.

David Rawnsley is a self-confessed Soccer Nut and Green Activist.

He’s the founder of CARS Citizens Against Roadside Spraying.

Was the Federal Green Party Candidate for SD&SG.

And President of Char-Lan Minor Soccer.

Gabriel Riviere-Reid is our new columnist. Our youth is our future and when you find bright and articulate youth you have to give them a platform.

He’ll be talking about a range of subjects from his committment to his community to sports, entertainment, and his love of Monty Python!

David Grégoire is a freelance writer. He began his career in 2008 on the community radio in Quebec.  He then worked in the community TV in Quebec.  Mr. Grégoire crossed the border of Quebec in July 2010 to work at Le/The Journal, a bilingual weekly in Cornwall.

He is freelance writer for suite101.fr and contributor to  Canada Free News.

Mr Grégoire will serving the Francophone community in Cornwall.

David Grégoire est journaliste pigiste. Il débute sa carrière en 2008 à la radio communautaire au Québec. Après, il travaille à la télé communautaire, toujours au Québec. Par la suite, M. Grégoire traverse la frontière du Québec en juillet 2010 afin de travailler à l’hebdomadaire bilingue Le/The Journal, à Cornwall.

Maintenant, il poursuit son parcours comme journaliste à la pige pour les sites Internet Canada Free News et suite101.fr.

Captain Dan Baz enrolled in Flight School at the age of 16.

He has completed studies in Aircraft Engineering and Master of Business Administration. He has been at the controls of many different types of aircraft, from single engine Cessnas to large intercontinental jets on global routes.

Over the last four decades he has flown thousands of hours up in the blue sky

 

Tabatha Pilon is a 17 year old student studying in Denmark.

From a young age,  she learned that if something was meant to be, then it will be.

Thanks to the Rotary Youth Exchange, she was accepted and chosen to go to Aarhus, Denmark(pronounced: Oar-huus) to have a year long adventure of a lifetime.

She will be writing about her experiences aboard and about being a student.

Ian Brannan is originally from Fort McMurray Alberta, and is currently persuing a diploma in the journalism
program at St. Lawrence College.

He is 30 years old, he is in his first year of journalism, but is in his second year at St. Lawrence.

Last year he attended the Kingston Campus and was in the business department, but  found that business wasn’t for him.

He loves writing and talking about whats going on in the world today and he loves photography, so this field was the best for him.

Now he stays in Cornwall for school but lives in Kingston when not attending classes. 

 

 

Carine Sturgeon is a Cornwall native now dividing her time between Ottawa Ontario and Cornwall Ontario. She is a graduate of Ecole Secondair La Citadelle and St Lawrence college.

A Educational Assistant by trade she is now The program Coordinator of After School Programs with the City of Ottawa.

A self confessed “shopaholic” she now channels her shopping addiction into a coupon addiction.
