Cornwall Hospital under Budget Review

With just weeks to go before Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan is expected to table the 2009-10 budget, more than 70 per cent of the province’s 155 hospitals have planned staff reductions and, in some cases, service cuts, said Tom Closson, president of the Ontario Hospital Association.

The Cornwall hospital was in the red by $4.7 million in 2007-08. At the end of this fiscal year, it projects a $5-million deficit on a $90-million budget.

This is one area we should be finding money for; not cutting.
