Bob Gainey had a discussion with Kovalev, and he’s decided it would be best for the struggling winger to sit out the next two games and think about how he can get his game back up to a respectable level. He won’t accompany the team to Washington and Pittsburgh.

Finally the dog get’s spanked.  I’d wager that Mr. Kovalev is traded and will not don a Habs uniform again.   His last two games, 0 shots, 0 points.

“Alex’s preference was to stay with the team and play, but I could see in his eyes that he agreed with it.” — Canadiens’ GM Bob Gainey

The difference between winners and losers is how they deal with adversity.

Talent minus heart doesn’t win Stanley Cups.

In other Hab news Sergei Kostitsyn was sent down in favour of rugged winger Gregory Stewart.   It might’ve taken him awhile, but it’s good to see Bob Gainey getting things moving and these actions send a loud message to the players.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Markov traded either before the deadline especially after he stiffed in last year’s play offs.
