O Canada! Habs, Leafs, Canucks, Flames win! NHL Round Up

The investment’s paid off so far for the Habs as both Scott Gomez and Mike Cammallieri scored in the Habs first pre-season game, a 3-2 win over Florida.

Carey Price stopped all the shots he faced before being replaced by Curtis Sanford who gave up both Panther Goals.

Matt D’Agostini scored the other for Montreal.

Wayne Gretzky is still staying away from the Phoenix Coyote bench.  I think that’s pretty grim.   The great one should be behind the bench until he’s officially terminated or leaves.    If the NHL’s bid to win the team goes through he’d have to renegotiate a new contract, which of course would be smaller.   I just find his not being behind the bench now not to be too classy.

Theo Fleury scored the Shoot Out winner for Calgary who also had Olli Jokinen score two.    Dion Phaneuf sent an Islander to the hospital with a massive blue line hit that led to a skirmish in the Flames 5-4 win.

The Leafs shut out the Flyers 4-0, but the highlight of the game was Luke Schenn smacking around Dan Carcillo, tough guy for Philly.  Lee Stempniak, Nazem Kadri, Mikhail Grabovski, and Christian Hanson scored.

In other NHL games, Washington 4 Buffalo 3, Nashville shut out Atlanta 5-0, Colorado 3-1 over the Stars, and SJ edged LA 2-1.
