Habs Flame out in Calgary – Pick up D man Marc-Andre Bergeron $750K for 1 Year – Sens rake Leafs 2-1

Sometimes the score of a game can be deceptive.   Last night was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen a Habs team offer up.   It’s awfully hard to score when you spend more time in your end of the rink than the oppositions so I give the Habs credit for potting the goals, but to keep getting outshot and not own the puck is not what dreams of Stanley are made of.

When you’re a small fast team you need to draw penalties.  Last night the Habs forwards didn’t do a good job of that.   The pucks came off their sticks way to fast to even remotely draw penalties as Calgary just plain out played them as a team.

The Defense in particular, other than Hal Gill, didn’t seem to be in the game and Calgary was far too often allowed to gain the Hab zone and crowd the net.   While not his best game Jaroslav Halak could not be blamed for all of the Calgary Goals.

Luckily for Montreal they face the Canucks next who seem to be in more of a mess than they are.

In other NHL scores, the Sens beat the Leafs 2-1; Ray Emery snatched another win in OT over Washington 6-5; Carolina in the shootout 2-1 over TB; The Wolves bit the Ducks 4-3, Saku Koivu got his first goal of the year; Edmonton 5-Dallas 4; and Dany Heatley finally scored a goal in SJ’s 6-4 loss to LA.

Well that’s a no brainer.  Kudos to The Habs before someone else did just to thwart them.  berg Bergeron, a sixth year defenseman will fit their cap nicely for this year.  Last year with the Wolves he potted 14 goals and at 28 seems a much better option that bringing the Breezer out of retirement.
