MP Scott Brison Christmas Card Draws Bigoted Attacks – Merry Christmas – December 18, 2009

brisonxmas This Holiday greeting card from Liberal MP Scott Brison seems to be drawing a lot of fire and abuse.  L I N K

“The overwhelming response has been very positive,” Brison said from Windsor, N.S. “There’s always a very, very tiny minority of bigots. It’s their problem, it’s not my problem.”

But Matt Mills, editorial director of the gay news group Pink Triangle Press, said it’s a mistake to block homophobes.

“Gay and lesbian people do know that homophobia exists and is expressed all the time,” he said.

“Our approach is that shutting down comments when there are homophobic remarks that come out really just drives that homophobia underground and out of the public eye. It is an exercise, in some ways, in denial. And I don’t think that’s constructive … We can’t fight it if we can’t see it.”

We here at The Cornwall Free News will keep our comments section open as we also wish to expose bigotry when possible.

Season’s greetings to all of our sponsors, readers, and Mr. Brison and St. Pierre.

  1. If Guy Lauzon can send out cards with his family, as I am sure many other politicians have, then there is no problems here with this card going out as far as I am concerned.

Go Scott Brison! Be proud! And shame to all the bigots!

  2. Redefining of the family:
“If the homosexuals can succeed in their goal to make gender roles insignificant, then the Biblical definition of family as one husband, one wife, and children becomes meaningless, and can be relegated to the ash heap of outmoded, “medieval” ideas. Family, in the homosexual view, could then be defined as any combination of human beings or animals desired — two lesbians, three women and a man, two men and two dogs–whatever. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where they really want to go. That is the real agenda!” (Rev. Marshall)

God’s definition of family: Gen 2:23 -24 “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” – the first marriage and the first new family.

No matter what the world wants to do with the “family”, the family is still a God given institution between one man and one woman. Marriage is still between one man and one woman. Like it or not, it is here to stay because God does not change! And His law Word will not change either. Pervert it to societies own destruction and demise! “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder”(Mar 10:9). “Let marriage be kept honorable in every way, and the marriage bed undefiled. For God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery (Heb 13:4).
    Amen!

  3. By the way the meaning of bigotry – a bigot: “a person obstinately wedded to a particular creed”(New Webster Dictionary).

Consider the words of Scripture as one spoke to the Lord Jesus Christ: “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (Mat 22:36 – 40. I guess the Lord Jesus Christ was a bigot then? He was “a person obstinately wedded” to loving God and doing His will, and obeying His word.

How about you? Want to be a bigot too? Can we say that homosexuals are bigots too? Hum? I have to think about that one!

  4. How did I know that the great Pastor Tom would have something to say here. I guess both gays and pot smokers are all going to hell. I am quite sick of reading your scriptures. But, here’s some food for thought for you Pastor Tom. Enjoy!

Top Ten Reasons to Make Gay Marriage Illegal

    01) Being gay is not natural. Real Canadians/Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

    02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

    03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

    04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

    05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

    06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

    07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

    08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in Canada and America.

    09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

    10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Now run along Pastor Tom, because if you want to start bringing religion into it, you don’t want to get me started on all those stories about what some various priests did with their alter boys and others, in the past and present, or do you?

  5. Pastor Tom makes it sound like “any combination of human beings or animals” does not a family make. I have few living relatives but a strong group of friends that I consider to be my family. Reconsider the meaning of “family”. If you draw your strength from a group of people (or seek comfort from a pet – who does not think that the company of a dog is not a real relationship) who is to judge how you get by on this earth. Shame to Pastor Tom – does Jesus also not preach love and acceptance?

  6. Pastor Tom is obviously not a religious figure in any way! Perhaps he’s a wannabe. In todays world it’s ludicrous to assume that gays and lesbians shouldn’t marry nor raise children. Gays and lesbians don’t become that way, they are born that way. You might even say that God made them that way. We all know that God works in mysterious ways and it’s too bad that Pastor Tom cannot understand his God! Gays and lesbians have families, make families and are families, we love them just the same. My grandson is gay, do you think that I love him any less? Would God love him any less?
Pastor Tom you are a bigot as described in the Oxford Dictionary “an obstinate and intolerant believer in a religion or political theory”
    Grimalot and Vicgirl…way to go!!!

  7. I neve quite understood how certain individuals could compare same sex marriages (or relationships in general) to beastiality, pedophilia.. or just about any type of relationship that is viewed as “unnatural”

What’s wrong with two consenting human adults who love each other?! It is NOTHING like being in love with animal, who doesn’t have the mentality for it, or say a child who does not have the maturity for it.

Come on ppl, there are bigger battles out there, let 2 people who love each other unify their love.. don’t hate.

  8. grimalot WELL DONE, well done, well done! LOLOLOLO I will use this very excellent material in arguments with family members who share the same sentiments as the supposed Pastor noted in your reply.

To you and yours, the very, very best of the Holiday Season!

  9. Stan: I understand my God quite well – His Holy Word declares who He is and what He has done. Your conjecture and opinion is based upon just that – an opinion with out proof. Such opinions based upon human reasoning is worthless, and has no binding authority. God loves sinners enough to send His Holy Son to die on the cross (John 3:16). Those whom God saves He forgives all their sins, but that is not all – He changes their heart and mind and enables them to love holiness, purity, and righteousness. And He enables them to hate their former sinful lifestyle. Case example: the woman taken in adultery in John 8. Yes, by His love and grace He forgave her, but He also said to her – “go and sin no more”. A person who says they know God and goes on living contrary to the revealed will of God, as revealed and preserved in the Holy Bible, is a liar and does not know the true and living God. Their god is a god of their imagination, a god of their opinion. In God’s Book such is still unconverted and is an idol worshiper.

As for your grandson, the word of God says this: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “You know that wicked people won’t inherit the kingdom of God, don’t you? Stop deceiving yourselves! Sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals,10 thieves, greedy people, drunks, slanderers, and robbers won’t inherit the kingdom of God.11 That’s what some of you were! But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God”.

Notice that some were deceived thinking that unholy people would get to heaven – just like today. Also it says – “that’s what some of you were..” past tense – they were no longer living a sinful lifestyle as described. Homosexuality is a chosen sinful lifestyle that one chooses to do. Just like all the other sinful life styles mentioned in 1 Cor 6:9-11. God did not make them that way. All are born as sinners, and therefore we choose sin, any sin, all sin. Such choices become our way of life – who we are – sinners in need of God’s saving, transforming grace.

I would exhort your grandson, and even you by the way, to repent (turn, forsake, trash) from such unbiblical opinions and sinful lifestyles and seek God for forgiveness and a new life in Christ. God is merciful and will forgive and change any sinner, and that if they will come bow the knee to King Jesus by faith. “…But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God”. That is real salvation!

  10. And this is where God and Science now separate, Pastor Tom, it has been PROVEN, that being gay/lesbian is not a lifestyle CHOICE, it is a part of that person. They were BORN that way. This was not a choice that they just happened to turn around and say “whoops, I’m Gay/Lesbian” one day. Therefore they are not sinners so far as I am concerned. You’re talking about a book that was written 2000 years ago, where society just did not have as much of an understanding of the way’s others were by comparison to today.

As well, the book, obviously written by straight people and their interpretations, is exactly that, interpretations. It was not written by God or Jesus. The 10 commandments was the only part written by God, and no where in the 10 commandments does it state that it is illegal to be gay/lesbian.

And am I to understand that by your last statement to Stan, that you now mean to say that both he and his grandson are going to hell now? If that’s the case, I know someone brought it up before, but it would seem that everyone except you is going to hell, and quite frankly, if you were the only one going to heaven, I’m sure not only myself, but everyone involved would rather be with the rest of their sane friends in hell!

  11. Pastor Tom: You say my “conjecture and opinion is based upon an opinion without proof. Such opinions based upon human reasoning are worthless and have no binding authority”. I know that God did not write the Bible, it was written by humans perhaps thousands of years before Christ came on the scene. So why do you call it “Gods Book”? Have you ever heard God talking to you? Have you ever met God? No? Then your God is a God of your imagination, a God of your opinion (without proof).
You say that wicked people will not inherit the Kingdom of God then please don’t deceive yourself either because “slanderers” is on your list and thats what you are! So no Kingdom of God for you! No salvation!

  12. Top Ten Reasons to Make Gay Marriage Illegal in America

    01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

That’s why we have only one religion in America.

  13. As well Pastor Tom, here is some more interesting information about religion:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjGkRFFBd0A

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_E0vfP79yE&feature=related

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyXIeB1qI6w&feature=related

Its interesting, but all of your theories are basically debunked. Fact is, being Gay/Lesbian is the way that person was born. Just in the opinion of others, such as yourself, that is just wrong and you keep turning to the book (written by interpretation and opinion), to tell you how things are. Do you like living a life like they did 2000 years ago?

“The most awful of crimes, are justified in the name of divine pursuit”

Keep justifying your thoughts and actions in the same manner Pastor Tom.

  14. All this talk about a gay gene, and being born that way – where is the proof. Even some of the leaders of the gay community acknowledge that there is no such thing as a gay gene – have you not read? In all the up to date scientific research which can be verified says the same thing – no gay gene. It is a chosen sinful lifestyle just like the Bible says!

  15. Good, I love it when people fall all over one another to be politically correct and tolerant. Pastor Tom is simply employing a variety of recycled unchristian and narrow views of family. I and my partner have six children between us, mine older his exiting their teens. We are a family. We act in accordance with the principles of family, we love within the principles of family, we protect and honor, encourage and support our children throughout their lives.

    Get over it folks.

The reality is that there are many more men either locked in a heterosexual marriage or living openly as gay fathers than you would likely care to imagine.

  16. If being gay is only a chosen lifestyle, and is in no way natural, why would God make all these animals and birds gay? Why does homosexuality appear in nature? What do you tell two homosexual swans who want to parent a baby?

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15750604/

  17. So please then, Pastor Tom, post your proof as to where these leaders of the gay community say otherwise, and please post your scientific research that states that it is not a gay gene. And on top of that, please post where there is scientific evidence that states it is a chosen, sinful lifestyle. Otherwise you’re just blowing hot air at the moment.

  18. Ok, to be fair Pastor Tom, I researched many different pages claiming there is no “gay gene”, and yes, there appears to be no gene in itself. But upon further research, of which will be summarized greatly by this link, http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/neuro05/web3/kgiamanco.html , then it appears on many pages that gay/lesbians are still born that way. They don’t just go and adopt the lifestyle on a whim, as you still seem to think they do.

  19. But now Pastor Tom, I still want your scientific evidence that states it is a chosen, and sinful lifestyle. Hopefully you’re not obtaining this kind of information from Stormfront or something.

  20. Another link for you Pastor Tom:

    http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?type=doc&id=28531

This one tries to summarize whether or not being gay is a choice.

I particularly liked one persons comments on the subject, as I find it will hit true to home for you:

    “judging others is indisputably a choice – Troy – Dec 5th 2009

    Hi all,

It occurs to me as I read some of these posts that the most ironic statements come out of the mouths of those who claim to believe in God. While debating whether or not being gay is a choice, people are choosing to be insensitive, ignorant, disrespectful, and worst of all, judgmental. I tend to question just how deep and genuine a person’s belief in God is when that same person speaks from his alleged spirituality and attempts to discount or invalidate the trials and tribulations of another human being.

Choosing to be a decent person should be a higher priority for those who do not have personal experience with struggles or circumstances which they are offering an opinion about. Far too many people use their religious beliefs simply as an excuse to avoid being a decent person. They hide behind principles which completely contradict God, yet blame God for the indecency, insensitivity, and disrespect in which they express themselves. I suspect that if an individual’s life is so pure and free from personal struggle, he would be the most compassionate, kind, sensitive, respectful, warm hearted person on the planet. Since that is not the case with those of you who so willingly choose to pass judgment on others, I suggest that you redirect your focus on the very real personal struggles that your own lives present – despite how desperately you attempt to deny them.

    Troy”

  21. Well Pastor Tom…. I would like you to meet with My priest… Father Joe Leclair who is wondering how a narrow minded hateful person as yourself could earn the title of pastor. I assume you are not a real pastor, but rather a bilble thumping lonely man sitting at home with nothing better to do then quote ancient scripture in attempt to feel better about your own self. I don’t know the bible very well but I do attend a Catholic Church and am accepted by all. Never have I been told I’m sinning. I think it is a sin that a disgrace like yourself has been allowed to call himself pastor. Truly disgusting.

  22. Pastor Tom: When we say that lesbians and gays are born that way, it has nothing to do with genes. Have you ever heard of a Bank Robber gene, or a Truck Driver gene, or even a Pastor gene? It is the way we are and is the way that God made us. The “Book” says He made us in his image…….now twist your tongue around that Tommy Boy!

  23. a pastor gene, now that’s funny!

Actually, I am sure that everyone here will agree to one thing, humanity as a whole has come nowhere near explaining all the intricacies that make up humankind. I am sure though we consider we made great strides in mapping out the human gene pool, there is probably so much more to find out, and we’ve probably not even touched the tip of the iceberg on that one.

But from what limited knowledge we know about it so far, we all know that humankind takes all sorts in. Straights, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, Pastor Tom’s, myself and other posters, or whatever the case may be, we are all human, and here for a reason. A greater reason that unfortunately, no one has managed to explain yet.

  24. Oh, man, this is nuts. I never could understand how the church says ‘love everyone, but hate gays and lesbians’ . How dumb is that?? I’m straight, but I detest the way these religious bigots ( yes, Pastor “Full of Hatred, err sorry Tom” treat fellow humans like they are secondary citizens, just because they may love someone the church doesn’t like!! What the hell right does the church have in these matters?? It’s no wonder I no longer attend church, I think it’s a friggin farce. The Pope says ” Don’t use birth control, but don’t have an abortion, either”. Oh OK, we as woman will just have babies that will be raised and resented by mothers who either couldn’t or just didn’t want to raise a baby. I got pregnant at a very young age, and gave up my son for adoption. But, there are a lot of woman who don’t/can’t make this choice. So what about those babies? Raised by unfit women?
Ok, sorry, off topic lol. I just get so fed up with the church. It’s a joke.

  25. Grimalot. I agree that we’ve just touched the tip of the iceberg. You are one of the more intelligent people writing here.

Pastor Tom: You go around judging everybody and everything. Who was it that said “Judge not….lest ye be judged”? I think you’d better be careful Pastor Tom before Someone decides to rip you a new one…..

  26. Lisa: You must remember there is a big difference between hating the sinner and hating their sin. I do not hate the sinners I speak to, for I remember that I am only a sinner saved by His grace. But God does expect us to love righteousness and to hate sin – “Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked”(Psalm 97:10). The Lord Jesus goes on to say – “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matt. 5:44).

Allowing a sinner to go on in their sin, which will bring them to certain hell fire, unless they repeat and turn to God’s appointed Saviour, is not love at all. God sent His Son from Heaven to save His people from their sins and from the judgment due unto their sins, and are we to do less? We are to follow the Lord Jesus’ example. We cannot atone for others sins, but we can, in love expose their sin by the Word of God, in order that God might use our expression of love to save them. It is just that, like many on this post, many really do not understand the love of God. Why is that? You might have religion, but do have the love of God in your heart because you have submitted to the Lord Jesus in real, biblical salvation? Are you “born again”? If you were, you would understand the love I have for sinners.

You might reply by saying – “it’s not your job to speak thus, leave it up to God!”. Well that is not a true statement for the Word of God says – ” Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen”( Matthew 28:19-20). This what is called the Great Commission. This commission was first given to the apostles, and then the apostles gave it to the church. It is the responsibility of every “born again Christian” to go and tell. So I go and tell

This Christmas, as you do your religious thing (I am speaking to all of you on this post), remember this: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief”(1 Timothy 1:15). How about you?

  27. You’re not getting the point Pastor Tom. Gays/Lesbians are not sinners! They do not require their sexual orientation exposed as a sin. To me, they are just like everyone else. Whatever race, nationality, creed, sexual orientation, they are put on this planet, and if there is a higher power that put them on this planet, then so be it, that is in their image regardless of how you look at it.

Why would “God” purposefully put Gay/Lesbians on the planet for? So that they can lead a life being mocked by all the supposed “non-sinners”? That just seems like petty head games to me if that is the case.

Fact remains, that all these scriptures you quote were written by “Humans”, with their own “Opinions”. And this is where I see a flaw in the bibles. As I said above, is “God” just playing games by putting Gays/Lesbians on the planet if they weren’t supposed to be a normal part of society and shunned instead as sinners?

I mean it just doesn’t make sense to me. So obviously some historic, human bias, has played a role in the way the bibles were written.

  28. Discussing this stuff with the likes of Pastor Tom is as futile as talking to a brick. His particular cult has a hate on for people that they are afraid of. Of course he says that he loves the sinner, but hates the sin. Unfortunately, the sin is being a homosexual, and living a life as such. There’s is no way that bigots, hiding behind a religion (cult), will ever let go of their hatred. It seems to be in their genes.
