“A psychotic disorder characterized by delusions of persecution with or without grandeur, often strenuously defended with apparent logic and reason.”
“Extreme, irrational distrust of others.”
Now I’m not saying that there are no grounds of residents of Akwesasne, but there are some who for whatever reasons have what could be perceived as very strong cases of Paranoia.
The problem is that CBSA officers; who I feel are stuck in the middle of this political exercise we know as “The Seaway International Bridge Crisis” have to deal with individuals who vent this at them.
Here is a link to a site allegedly written by someone who claims to be a Mohawk from Akwesasne or “Onkwehonwe”
I’d cut and link a few excerpts as allowed by law but this person has disabled that ability as she is trying to sell her content to those that would pay for it. Hey, it’s a free world, and I guess everyone needs to make a buck.
This person has also taken quite a few videos and placed them on you tube. As you can see by the actions of following officers closely, shooting their license plates, and getting in their face this sort of aggressiveness is something that probably isn’t productive to any cause. She also pitches purchasing spy devices to record actions on her site as well.
On the Free Holder recently I was taken to task for “switching sides” as I replied there it’s not about sides. It’s as many Mohawks have shared, “Universal Truths” ,and I respect that concept; while certainly not claiming to be an expert on its meanings.
One of the biggest opportunities that the current Human Rights Tribunal has is to change how things are done by CBSA. But what about certain individuals in Akwesasne? Surely all CBSA agents are not monsters; have feelings and families, and only want to do their shifts and go home? Surely equating CBSA as a group is no better than suggesting that everyone in Akwesasne sells cigarettes and smuggles?
While not perfect Cornwall and Akwesasne from what I’ve heard are friendly and get along. This crisis has really frustrated a lot of people, and hurt a lot of people. Surely there needs to be action taken to not only resolve this crisis, but to deal with issues of everyone that’s involved.
Canada is known, or at until the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, was known, as a nation of peace keepers. If we can’t create strong peace here in Canada what kind of peace can we ever hope to offer to the world?
What do you think Cornwall? What do you think Akwesasne?

First of all Canada is not involved in Iraq in any way. Don’t you remember the snub Bush gave us for not joining the ‘Coalition of Willing’?
I can also go on and on about the whole peacekeeping aspect of what you said, but I won’t.
Well I have said a lot on this issue. Some of it productive and maybe some of it not so productive.
Though basically I think a lot of people are missing the point. I read some of the article you linked and if half that is true then why is she so concerned about making money off it. I have brought the drinking water topic up before. Why is the MCA paying $60000 to release seized vehicles when there are people who don’t have clean drinking water? Why is this a non issue with the Longhouse folks? Some people’s priorities seemed to be off the mark.
Vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, guns, booze and tobacco are the important things to many. They give a damn about clean drinking water!
