Letter to the Editor – Man Made Global Warming – John Milnes – Long Sault Ontario – February 17, 2010

Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye.  The verdict is now coming down with respect to the man-made global warming issue.  In fact, it is pretty well down with contrary statements from Professor Phil Jones, Director of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit and, perhaps, the greatest scientific proponent of the man-made global warming THEORY.  I have spelt the word theory in capitals because that is all it has ever been since no hard data has ever existed to support the
theory.  Professor Jones now says “for the past 15 years there has been no statistically significant warming”.  Further, Professor Jones says skeptics of his theory, people like me with our points against the theory, have been correct

Watch out Suzuki and Gore, burn that unscientific film, bury the polar bears you portray, that did NOT die because of global warming.   Your environmental  bubbles have been burst and your environmental credibility is now much in doubt because Professor Jones has even conceded that the world in medieval times may well have been warmer than it is in today’s climatic conditions.  I have said, so very often, the Arctic was at one time forested.  This is evidenced by the presence of oil and gas deposits in the region.  The Arctic ice has been breaking up for more years than anyone living today can recall because even the Titanic was sunk after striking an iceberg – almost a hundred years ago.

Anyone doubting that Professor Jones has actually made these statements should ride their computers like bucking broncs and Google to Phil Jones Global Warming where the story is contained in a British national tabloid.  Putting aside the glow of satisfaction in knowing you have fought the good fight and come out a winner I would remind your readers that my being correct does not remove the reality we can look forward to global warming through the processes of nature.  Eventually the world will suffer from deeper oceans encroaching on the shorelines of many nations.  We, in the ‘have world’, will need to ensure some means of dealing with this problem BEFORE it becomes a disaster.

I believe, most sincerely, that my concept of using the oceans to provide water to those in need while, at the same time, using the process to marginallly control the increasing levels in the oceans of our globe, is the correct one.  There I have used the word ‘globe’ in a more meaningful manner!

  1. Milne’s hyperbole and echoed corporate propaganda is disturbing to me. The rhetoric he spews is not based in fact but what he digests and repeats from the tabloids. Milne tells us;

    “Anyone doubting that Professor Jones has actually made these statements should ride their computers like bucking broncs and Google to Phil Jones Global Warming where the story is contained in a British national tabloid”, says Milne.

    Really? Are we to believe Milne’s position or the opinion he has adopted from the interests of greed when he backs up his opinion with sudo-science he has read on a PR site camouflaged as a science web-site and some skewed scribbling in a National British TABLOID?

    John, please I urge you to get your own opinion and read the science or at least go the BBC as I did and read Dr. Jones’ actual words not what was cherry picked by a reporter that writes for a paper that also reports “Alien Abductions and President Obama’s “Secret Identity”.

    Dr Jones said that he wished the doubters had spent as much time reading his science publications as they have reading these three out of context emails. I wish people would spend time reading what is peered reviewed in Science publication not opinion written by a Chemical engineer working for an Oil Company.

    This is the interview in question from the source (the BBC not the “Enquirer”)

    As I posted in another comment section, some REAL science links with articles and papers written by real Climate Scientists, not just shills funded by corporate and wealthy interests.
    As I have said before don’t believe me or Milne or propaganda from corporate shills. Go to the sources. Use your computer to access the information highway as it was intended to gain information not repeat the inane and half truths of others!

  2. I noticed that Milne’s actually quoted Dr. Jones in his letter;
    ~
    Milne’s quote; “Professor Jones now says “for the past 15 years there has been no statistically significant warming”. Further, Professor Jones says skeptics of his theory, people like me with our points against the theory, have been correct”
    ~
    Further proof of the hyperbole and lies that are being spread by the debunkers of climate science since Dr. Jones said no such thing in this interview. Dr Jones’ actual quote from the BBC interview was;

    “B – Do you agree that from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming
    Yes, but only just. I also calculated the trend for the period 1995 to 2009. This trend (0.12C per decade) is positive, but not significant at the 95% significance level. The positive trend is quite close to the significance level. Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter periods.”

    John Milne’s shame on you, for not actually reading the BBC interview and quoting a mis-quote. Tell me how can any one take you or any one that believes the same rhetoric you do seriously?

  3. Bravo bobgeneric. It is so frustrating that we still have to defend scientific facts against these propaganda machines. Kind of reminds me of the 70’s when cigarette companies hired massive PR firms to tell us that smoking doesn’t kill. As a matter of fact, some of the people who worked on those campaigns have been hired by oil companies to spread misinformation about global warming. They muddy up the waters just enough to confuse the general public who are generally too apathetic to do any research themselves.

  4. I am still disgusted that Gore’s “film” was showed to impresionable school kids without any opposing view comment. I want my kids to use their minds when given both sides of the story.
    But I guess that was given up to fit in physical fitness each day instead.

  5. Author

    Eric can you explain that comment a bit? I know some people like to villainize Mr. Gore’s film, but its viewpoint is no more right or wrong than other viewpoints out there?

  6. Sure Admin, I am not disgusted that the viewpoint is given, just that only one side is given, and as it turns out, there is another view.

    The physical fitness comment is due to the schools being told to have X minutes each day. However the school day was not extended so something must be dropped or shortened.
