Halak & Habs Shallack Sabres 3-0 – Leafs Lose 2-1 to Bruins – Sens sunk by Islanders 4-1 – NHL SCORES – Cornwall Ontario – April 4, 2010

Cornwall ON – If the Montreal Canadiens have any play off hopes this year they are going to revolve around Jaroslav Halak.   The goalie has played himself into the role with Montreal the same way he did with his team in the Olympics.

He picked up a shut out last night against a very strong Buffalo squad in Montreal’s 3-0 victory.  Sergei Kostitsyn, Tom Pyatt, and Ryan O’Byrne found the back of the night in an odd game in that Montreal out shot Buffalo; their big guns had opportunities, but it was the least likely of players who got the points including the increasingly valuable Domenic Moore who notched two assists.

Montreal wakes up in 6th place with Ottawa in fifth, who lost again 4-1 to the Islanders of all teams,  and if I am Montreal I definitely want to play Ottawa in the opening round.

Boston clipped the Leafs 2-1 in a symbolic win for the trade partners.    There was quite a bit of buzz on talk radio how Toronto players should add that extra effort to support their GM after making the Phil Kessell trade which may go down as one of the worst trades in NHL history.
